About 49,500 people took their own lives last year in the U.S., the highest number ever, according to new government data posted Thursday.

What’s to blame? You guessed it: Guns. That’s what they’re saying.

So if guns are outlawed tomorrow, suicides will stop. But why do so many WANT to kill themselves? Isn’t that the important question?
