Here’s leftism, in a nutshell:

“Freedom? You have freedom. You have freedom to be a decent human being. If you don’t want to be a decent human being, then you have no freedom. You DON’T have the freedom to ruin the planet by using fossil fuels. You DON’T have the freedom to engage in insurrection, not when it’s against one of the people I support. You have freedom of speech, but you DON’T have the freedom to express hatred. If you don’t have anything nice to say, then shut the hell up. Anything I consider not nice qualifies as hatred. And no, you have no right to bear arms. That’s ONLY the right of the government — the police, and the army. ONLY if the government is run by people I like. If the government is run by Donald Trump, then the army and police, at that point, have no rights either.

So basically I, and people who think like me, get to decide who’s armed, and who isn’t; who’s in jail, and who isn’t; and basically, who lives or dies, if it comes to that. If you’d only stop spewing hatred, stop altering the climate and ruining the planet, and stop refusing to accept the will of our progressive government, then you’d have all the freedom you want. Freedom is for those who have earned it. Progressives like me have earned it. Haters, misogynists, homophobes, transphobes, Islamophobes and unenlightened idiots like you have no rights. You’re lucky we let you still roam free at all. Got it?”
