Confirmed: Michelle Obama Really Is a Horrible Person

What the heck is wrong with Michelle Obama?

It’s a serious question. Why does anyone like this woman? Her pattern of cruelty and narcissism should shock even her most devoted admirers. During a recent podcast appearance, she casually announced she was “so glad” she never had a son because “he would’ve been a Barack Obama.” Let that sink in for a moment. This woman just publicly declared that having a child who resembled her husband would be something to celebrate avoiding.

Now, don’t get me wrong — she’s right. Her husband is horrible, too. But she is his wife… allegedly. I mean, they’re at least pretending to be in a happy marriage despite all the rumors.

Nevertheless, the casual cruelty of that statement, delivered with apparent glee, exposes a level of contempt that goes far beyond typical marital tensions. This isn’t an isolated incident of poor judgment or a momentary lapse in decorum. Obama has been systematically degrading her husband in public forums for months now, using every available platform to score cheap points at his expense.(snip)

Here’s a woman who has built her entire public persona on moral superiority and inspirational messaging, yet she can’t resist using public platforms to crap on the man who made her fame and fortune possible. The hypocrisy is staggering, but it’s entirely consistent with her long history of bitter, divisive rhetoric.

Hillary was never the Smartest Person in the Room

Remember back when Bill Clinton was President and Hillary was his co-president?

Back then, the ever-slavish media regularly referred to her as “the smartest woman in the room.”

That was never true. Not even close.

She was never a feminist heroine because she “was no Tammy Wynette” and did not “stay home and bake cookies and stand by her man.”

She was always just a mean, bitter, unattractive woman with narcissistic delusions of her own abilities.

And after all the intervening years, when she was Obama’s Secretary of State (a pity appointment because she lost the election to him – better to keep her inside the tent), she further proved she was not the smartest woman in the room.

She was always only interested in achieving ever more personal wealth and power; Bill was just a vehicle to that end.  Bill was a bright but unserious man who muddled through his two terms, most of which were spent trying to escape, or at least ameliorate, the media’s attention to his many scandals, from Whitewater to Monica Lewinsky and all the others in between (“bimbo eruptions,” cocaine use, murders, sexual abuse accusations, the Clinton Foundation, etc.). Hillary, on the other hand, was always focused on advancing her own power within the deep state.  She did and still would sell out her best pals for money and/or political power.

The Clinton Foundation was a scam, a grift.  The foundation raised millions of dollars from foreign sources for favors granted when she was Secretary of State. Little of the money allegedly raised for Haiti after that nation’s horrific earthquake ever reached the Haitians, nor was it spent on reconstruction there.

Sponsored

The Clintons are loathed in Haiti for good reason. The Haitian people know they were used and abused by Hillary Clinton. (Perhaps 5% of the money raised went to Haiti.)  Few, if any, of those Clinton Foundation dollars were spent on any charitable gifts, but they did pay for a great deal of luxurious travel and Chelsea’s multi-million-dollar wedding.  In short, the Clintons were the most corrupt political family in U.S. history since LBJ, and until Joe Biden.

Devastated by her loss to Obama, the Secretary of State position soothed her simmering anger.

She used that position to the fullest extent of corruption.

She used her “foundation” as a grift –  a not-so-subtle message to the world’s thugs –  donate millions, get what you want, was the set-up to lure foreign money into her lair.  She even sold control of 20% of U.S. uranium production to Russia!

But nothing busted her gut more than losing to Donald Trump and his “deplorables”  in 2016.  Because, as usual, the Democrats had cheated widely, she was beyond certain she would win that election.  So angry that she lost, she would not even concede until the next day.  The word is that she threw a bottle of champagne at a $100,000 big TV in a rage upon learning Trump had won.

Then came the Benghazi fiasco for which she was largely responsible; it was a cover-up scheme, and she was trafficking weapons from Libya to Syria.  It had nothing to do with a Muslim film.  But she sent the execrable Susan Rice to all five Sunday news programs to lie and expected the American people to believe their nonsense.   As she so loudly proclaimed when asked about the deaths of her ambassador there and the other brave men who were killed, “What difference, at this point, does it make?”

That is who this woman is.

Much has been revealed over the years about her amorality, her greed, and lack of humanity. In fact, she has steadily given in more deeply, more furiously, to her rage against Trump and his supporters.  We are now far worse than just “deplorable.” We are beyond redemption, and she believes she is our moral authority!

And yet every word she utters or tweets is dripping with contempt.  She and her cabal of government thieves and money launderers continue to blissfully rob American taxpayers of their hard-won dollars.  She pretends that the “No Kings” protests were organic, spontaneous, when she knows very well they were underwritten and very generously funded by a consortium of far-left, anti-American groups.

Hillary is a vicious person, furious that she was not elected to be the first woman President.  She truly does see those of us who rejected her as beyond deplorable. Like the rest of the left – Karen Bass, Gavin Newsom, J.B. Pritzker, Kathy Hochul, Brandon Johnson, etc., all race-baiters of the Sharpton variety (utterly phony), all of whom Hillary probably loathes because she is the phoniest of phony leftists,  she oozes revulsion for the patriotic Americans who rejected her.

For a first-hand accounting of her viciousness and her furious Trump derangement, check out her X account.  She regularly reveals herself as an angry, vengeful person,  a woman who thankfully never became president.  She would have sold out our great nation to anyone who paid her the millions she always felt she was owed simply for being Hillary.  Sure, she endured countless embarrassments caused by her husband’s obvious lack of affection and respect for her, and for that, she wants revenge on the country and those who voted for her opponent.

America dodged a bullet when Hillary was defeated by Trump.

Trump truly loves the country; she hates it and us.  We suffered a nearly catastrophic blow when the 2020 election was so cavalierly stolen; the installation of Joe Biden as a puppet president for the Marxist left who set out to make our country no more than a puzzle piece in their grand global, one-world government agenda that was nearly imposed upon us.

We again dodged a bullet when the Harris/Walz ticket was defeated.  (We can be sure that Hillary hated Kamala Harris, her intellectual inferior.) Imagine where we would be today if they had won.  A still-open border with thousands of migrants flowing into the U.S. by the day. These unvetted migrants from over 165 countries would be welcomed, sheltered, fed, given phones, etc. They would work for low wages, as near slaves, but their medical care would be paid for by U.S. taxpayers.  The unemployment of American citizens would be rising.  We would be emulating China. That is exactly what the anti-American, Marxist left has in mind for us deplorables.  Hillary Clinton is the poster person for what the left envisions for us all.

She only thinks she is smart, but she is transparently a mind-numbed leftist who proves her mediocrity and narcissism with every tweet she tweets

“Truly evil people don’t just hurt others, they take pride in the pain they cause and then try to blame their victims.” –anonymous

Jihad in Texas

A year and a half ago I moved my family from California, where I had spent my entire adult life, to Texas. We left for the same reason as hundreds of thousands of other people in recent years: the state that should be paradise on earth had become, thanks to Democrat mismanagement – intentional, some might say – a Third World cesspit where a middle-class lifestyle was affordable only for the wealthy. My wife and I chose Texas for a variety of reasons; we knew it wasn’t paradise either, but it was definitely higher ground. Now I’m beginning to wonder if we were wrong about that.

Earlier this month I, along with something like a thousand others, had been registered to attend a three-day event just outside Dallas called the Israel Summit, featuring a full lineup of notable Jewish and Christian advocates for Israel and organized by a media initiative called the Israel Guys. The venue for the event was a public space but armed security was in place and the location was kept under wraps as long as possible.

Nonetheless, a mere few days before the summit, the organizers announced that a change of venue had been forced by current events:

After the devastating attack that left two Jewish-Israelis dead in Washington D.C. two weeks ago, the security establishment in Texas began analyzing the Israel Summit…

After several days of working with law enforcement, intelligence, the governor’s office, and other political and local leaders in Texas, it became clear that we would not be able to have the Israel Summit at the original venue.

Pastor George and Terri Pearsons from Eagle Mountain International Church, a much more private location about 35 miles farther away, offered their state-of-the-art facility instead, so the event was back on. Organizers assured event-goers that they were “working with some of the best private security in America, as well as local law enforcement to ensure that this event will be completely safe.”

Shortly thereafter, however, the event was postponed indefinitely altogether due to “jihadist threats.” They must have been serious and credible enough to shut things down despite the topnotch security and more isolated venue. The fact that a gathering as innocuous as a networking event of Jews and Christian Zionists in rural Texas could draw credible, violent, Islamist threats is eyebrow-raising – until you realize just how widespread the Islamist infiltration of the Lone Star State has been.

You may recall that it was in Garland, Texas – only about a 20-minute drive northeast of Dallas – that my Freedom Center colleague Robert Spencer and frequent Center cartoonist Bosch Fawstin were among the targets of a jihadist attack, almost exactly ten years ago, at an event awarding Fawstin first prize in a free speech contest. Fawstin had dared draw Muhammad in defiance of the fundamentalist injunction against representations of the Muslim prophet, a “blasphemy” for which the entire office of the satirical Charlie Hebdo magazine was slaughtered four months earlier in Paris. Two heavily armed jihadists were taken out by Garland law enforcement before that massacre could be reenacted on Texas soil.

Texans, or at least Texas legislators, apparently didn’t take that lesson seriously enough, because in the intervening decade Islam has accelerated making inroads into the state Americans associate with a red-blooded, all-American, gun-slingin’, freedom-loving, cowboy attitude. “Don’t Mess With Texas,” as the slogan goes. But the times they are a-changin’.

Earlier this year, for example, Texas lawmakers oddly adopted a resolution, authored by Muslim Democrat Rep. Suleman Lalani, to establish March 23 as “Pakistan Day” honoring the state’s estimated 80,000 Pakistani inhabitants and “promoting diversity, inclusion, education, and the appreciation of Pakistani culture.” That day was chosen to commemorate the 1940 Lahore Resolution calling for independent Muslim states in British India. As FrontPage Mag’s Daniel Greenfield notes, in the aftermath of that resolution came

massacres of Hindus and other non-Muslims to ensure that as many areas as possible could be incorporated into the new Islamist entity.

This was followed by the Muslim League’s Direct Action Day or the Week of the Long Knives in which Muslims declared a Jihad and killed tens of thousands of people. In Calcutta, 4,000 Hindus fell to brutal Muslim violence.

Not what I would call a stellar example of diversity and inclusion. The resolution was down-voted by only a handful of Texas representatives, one of whom stated for the record that she stood with “the persecuted Christians of Pakistan” and another who rightly noted that it did not reflect the priorities of his constituents; the majority of Texas legislators, however, apparently were eager to court Muslim votes.

As for educating Texans to appreciate Pakistani culture, maybe what they really need to appreciate is the lesson Western Europeans are learning the hard way: that Islamic imperialism is “fundamentally transforming,” as Barack Obama might put it, the continent through demographic change and the gradual aggrandizement of political power.

Texans may wake up one day to find that merely telling oneself “it can’t happen here” isn’t enough. Planned Islamic communities are sprouting up all over the state – most notoriously one called EPIC City (after the East Plano Islamic Center), a $100 million, 402-acre, “Sharia-centric complex boasting 1,000 homes, a 3,200-capacity mosque, Islamic schools, clinics, and senior living, all revolving around the teachings of one of the most radical Islamic preachers in North America: Dr. Yasir Qadhi,” as FrontPage Mag’s Aynaz Anni Cyrus wrote.

That project has been stalled by Texas governor Greg Abbott, who launched investigations into EPIC City and declared that the state will allow no “sharia cities” or no-go zones, referring to reasonable concerns that such communities are future enclaves of parallel governance similar to those which are corroding major Western European cities from Paris to Stockholm.

Medicare, Social Security to Run out of Money Sooner than Expected

The Social Security program is nine years away from insolvency, the Social Security Board of Trustees said Wednesday.

This forecast moved up one year since 2024’s annual report, which projected the program to deplete its funding by 2035. Now that projection date is set at 2034.

Medicare’s hospital trust fund will fall short in 2033, when it will only be able to cover 89% of scheduled benefits. This date moved up three years since last year’s report, according to the Medicare Board of Trustees.

“As in prior years, we found that the Social Security and Medicare programs both continue to face significant financing issues,” the Treasury Department said Wednesday.

Tens of millions of Americans who rely on Social Security due to retirement or disabilities would see cuts to their monthly benefits.

If no changes are made, beneficiaries will only receive 81% of their benefits in nine years, the trustees’ report says.

“This data underscores the need for lawmakers to take action to support the long-term viability of these programs,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said. “Under President Trump’s whole-of-government initiative, the administration will continue to root out waste, fraud and abuse across federal agencies to ensure quality service for beneficiaries and responsible stewardship of taxpayer funds.”

The Social Security trustees cited a recent law upping support for beneficiaries as the culprit for the insolvency drop from 2035 to 2034.

The bipartisan Social Security Fairness Act, which was signed into law earlier this year, added benefits for almost three million public sector employees, including teachers and firefighters.

The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a D.C.-based think tank, responded to Wednesday’s Social Security and Medicare reports.

“Where is the sense of urgency?” President Maya MacGuineas said. “We are running out of time to phase in changes gradually and avoid harsh cuts, sharp tax increases or unacceptable borrowing.”

Israel’s Extraordinary Spy Teams Inside Iran (good read)

06 PM by lasereye

James Bond is smiling.

Among one of most astonishing revelations about Israel’s lightning military attack against Iran is its bold decision well before the war began to insert large, secret operational teams into the Islamic country.

“Operation Rising Lion’s” clandestine operations will go down in military history as the most ambitious covert military offensive in modern warfare. The press has briefly noted it, but they are missing the real story.

Israel’s secret Iranian operations led by Mossad, the country’s spy agency, have not stopped. They are ongoing. And only a few are talking about it.

One who is talking about this omission and is dialed into this extraordinary military campaign is John Spencer. He currently serves as the Chair of Urban Warfare Studies at the Modern War Institute at West Point and is Co-Director of the Urban Warfare Project,

Spencer told me that, indeed, Mossad is continuing to aggressively and freely operate throughout Iran. “Most mainstream media treat Mossad’s presence in Iran as something that happened in the past. That is a fundamental misunderstanding of the current reality,” he said.

“Mossad has a long track record of building deep operational infrastructure inside enemy territory. There is every indication that those networks are still in place and active. They are likely supporting real-time targeting of regime leadership, missile systems, and mobile launchers, while also disrupting Iranian internal security from within,” he told me.

For the moment, let’s briefly note what we know about these covert operations. Mossad surreptitiously moved into Iran parts for hundreds of quadcopter drones equipped with explosives and created a factory inside the country to stealthily assemble them.

They brought them in with suitcases, commercial trucks, and shipping containers. The secret agents also shipped in ammunition and weaponry to attack Iranian missile bases. The drones were launched from inside the country.

On-the-ground, agents attacked Iran’s air defense system and targeted its missile launchers. Other Mossad commando units positioned guided weapons from open areas near Iranian surface-to-air missile launches and fired away.

Some Mossad units were hidden in vehicles, where they deployed sophisticated technologies to disable Iranian air defense systems.

James Bond is smiling.

The psychological and real-world impact on Khamenei appears significant. As Reuters reported on Tuesday from Dubai, Khamenei today is a “lonely figure” who “has seen his main military and security advisers killed by Israeli strikes, leaving major holes in his inner circle.”

The Supeme Leader, age 86, is in hiding, but on Tuesday President Trump posted, “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target,” he stated. “We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now.”

Spencer also says Mossad most likely is working with Iran’s underground resistant movement which despise Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei and his brutal autocracy. He’s ruled Iran with an iron fist since 1989.

The urban warfare specialist told me Iran’s dense cities permit Mossad agents to move about freely. “Cities like Tehran, Esfahan, and Mashhad offer complex terrain for covert activity, but more importantly, they are filled with freedom-loving Iranians who do not support the regime.

“That reality creates both opportunity and cover for infiltration, movement, and the safeguarding of intelligence assets. The combination of hostile terrain and sympathetic civilians makes Iran’s cities not just targets, but platforms for internal disruption,” he said.

On Wednesday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on X that the IDF has destroyed the Iranian regime’s internal security headquarters, the core of the dictator’s repressive machinery.

Although the last six days have made spy history, it’s not the first time they have worked undercover against the Islamic Jihadis.

Last year, the world was stunned when Ismail Haniyeh, the billionaire Chairman of Hamas was killed in Tehran while attending the country’s presidential inauguration. Haniyeh was killed while he was sleeping in a presidential guest house.

And, of course, the world was captivated by Israel’s “Beeper” attack in which Israel activated explosives inside personal beepers carried by thousands of Hezbollah fighters who were stationed throughout Lebanon.

The enormity of Israel’s accomplishments is breathtaking. In the first 24 hours, Iran’s top military and intelligence leadership was decapitated.

And the assassination of top military commanders continues.

On Tuesday the Israel Defense Forces eliminated Maj. Gen. Ali Shadamani only a few days after took over from his assassinated predecessor. Mossad most likely provided some intelligence to the IDF about his whereabouts.

Shadamani was Iran’s War-Time Chief, the most senior ranking commander and one of the military’s closest confidants of Iran’s Ayatollah, according to the IDF.

Aaron Cohen, who formerly worked in special operations for Mossad told Fox News the spy agency’s infiltration has been occurring for years. “This was years in the making. Deep cover teams, full logistical coordination and total operational control.”

Cohen added, “So my take is this is psychological warfare, going after those generals, eliminating 20 of the top generals. And it tells the regime, Israeli is already here, and we know where you sleep, and we don’t miss.”

Spencer agrees. “The fear that Mossad is already inside, watching and waiting, is corrosive. It forces leadership to question their inner circle, disrupts trust between commanders, and triggers internal purges. Every strike deepens paranoia. Every assassination forces a recalculation. This environment is possibly paralyzing for many decision-makers. When officials no longer feel secure enough to communicate, gather, or move freely, their ability to lead, plan, or respond effectively breaks down” he says.

On Wednesday, the Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on X, “I warn the Iranian dictator: Whoever follows in the path of Saddam Hussein, will end up like Saddam Hussein.”

Hussein was eventually captured hiding in a hole in Iraq. Could that be Khamenei’s future?

The days and weeks ahead should be fascinating. We will see the open military operations of the IDF, but we’ll probably not see the hand of the Mossad, now the world’s premier spy agency.

How Israel Lured Iran’s Top Generals to Their Deaths Will Blow Your Mind

As of Wednesday, the Israeli operation to destroy Iran’s nuclear program and its ballistic missile capabilities continued apace, with launchers and production facilities becoming prime targets.

In perhaps the most dominant, decisive show of military force this century, the IDF managed to gain air superiority in the first three days of strikes and has been able to loiter over Tehran without consequence. I’m not sure enough people truly appreciate how insane it is that the Israelis have not lost a single plane yet. Once again, the incredible gulf between American and Russian military technology is being laid bare. To say Iran was a paper tiger would be an insult to paper tigers.

SEE: Iran Folds Like a Wash-and-Wear Suit, Begins Begging for a Ceasefire

With that said, we are learning some stunning details about how things got to this point. In the early hours of the war, it was reported that dozens of top Iranian military leaders were taken out in a single strike, and how that strike came to be is just as incredible as the result. According to a new report, the subterfuge used to get all those IRGC generals into a single bunker is like something right out of a spy novel.

Amit Segal told the Call Me Back podcast on Monday: “What Israel did was create a fake phone call for 20 members of the air force senior staff an calling them to a specific bunker in Tehran.”

This meant there was no one to give the order to fire the initial salvo of 1,000 ballistic missiles as Iran had previously threatened to do, he added.

The added bonus for the Israelis was that Iranian military leadership was essentially crippled from the moment of Israel’s first strike against the world’s top sponsor of terrorism.

As The Chronicle reported, Mossad had used “falsified communications through Iranian channels” to call the meeting — which successfully lured “the entire senior leadership of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force, including Commander General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, his deputies, and key technical personnel, into a fortified bunker outside Tehran.”

Mossad, Israel’s intelligence service, infiltrated Iranian backchannels and then placed 20 different fake phone calls to IRGC leaders. Those calls instructed them to all meet a reinforced bunker in Tehran, an order none of them questioned. It’s safe to speculate that Mossad agents were on the ground to confirm their arrival, and shortly after, the entire place was blown sky-high.

It was a boon for Israel because Iran’s command and control structure was cripled. It took almost a day for the Mullahs to finally muster a military response, and by then, the IDF had severely hampered their ballistic missile capabilities. While initial barrages did cause damage, including tragically killing several civilians due to Iran’s indiscriminate salvos, in context, they were very ineffective counterstrikes, accomplishing nothing of military value for Iran.

Still, as impressive as the nuts and bolts of the plot were, it’s how thought-out this all was that’s truly incredible. It’s one thing to place fake calls through Iranian back channels. It’s another to have every general who answered the phone fall for the ruse.

How did that happen? The answer lies in how antiquated and authoritarian Iran’s military structure was and remains. When you serve at the behest of an Islamic dictator who tortures and kills people who step out of line, you aren’t exactly in a position to question an order. When the calls came in to head to the bunker, wondering if things seemed a little suspicious wasn’t an option. So all the generals blindly listened.

But weren’t there just other leaders ready to step up and carry out the Mullahs’ decrees? Not really. Unlike the U.S. military structure, where junior officers are trained and placed in a defined, highly redundant chain of command, Iran’s top brass were insular loyalists. With them out of the way, chaos ensued.

Every part of Israel’s strike was considered down to the most granular detail. They knew how to trick the generals, but they also knew what the effects would be with enough confidence to risk a full-scale air war with Iran, and all of this occurred on an incredibly tight, fluid timeline. If someone had written a spy novel with these same details, the publisher would have probably said it was too unrealistic.

Khamenei Vows to Never Surrender

It isn’t wise to tell the Iranian nation to surrender,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Wednesday his country “will never surrender” as President Trump urged him to end reciprocal air strikes with Israel.

“It isn’t wise to tell the Iranian nation to surrender,” Khamenei posted on X. “What should the Iranian nation surrender to? We will never surrender in response to the attacks of anyone. This is the logic of the Iranian nation. This is the spirit of the Iranian nation.”

Israel started the air strikes last week amid stalled negotiations between the U.S. and Iran over Tehran’s pursuit of a nuclear weapon.

“UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” Trump called for on Tuesday. “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

“The US President threatens us,” Khamenei wrote in another X post on Wednesday. “With his absurd rhetoric, he demands that the Iranian people surrender to him. They should make threats against those who are afraid of being threatened. The Iranian nation isn’t frightened by such threats.”

The ayatollah also warned on Wednesday, “The US entering in this matter [war] is 100% to its own detriment. The damage it will suffer will be far greater than any harm that Iran may encounter.”

Israel and Iran have been exchanging missile fire since Friday, when the former hit the latter’s military and nuclear sites.

More than 500 have died in Iran, with injuries in the thousands, according to the group Human Rights Activist.

Now coming into view are the specifics of EPA’s strategy to end the Obama/Biden efforts to strangle the energy sector of the economy in the name of “saving the planet” from climate change. A document released by EPA last week on June 11 lays out the plan for repeal of the absurd (and dangerous) regulation that would have ended use of fossil fuels to generate electricity by some time in the 2030s. This EPA document is particularly interesting for the way it treats — and effectively sidelines — the so-called Endangerment Finding, the 2009 regulatory action that is the basis for all of the Obama/Biden fossil fuel suppression efforts.

President Trump made it clear from the first day of his new administration that he intended to undo as many as possible of the Obama/Biden era burdens and restriction on American energy production and use. Among the Executive Orders that Trump signed on “Day 1” (January 20, 2025) was one titled “Unleashing American Energy.” All agency heads were directed to review existing energy regulations for potential rescission as being overly burdensome. Excerpt:

Sec. 3. . . . (a) The heads of all agencies shall review all existing regulations, orders, guidance documents, policies, settlements, consent orders, and any other agency actions . . . to identify those agency actions that impose an undue burden on the identification, development, or use of domestic energy resources — with particular attention to oil, natural gas, coal, hydropower, biofuels, critical mineral, and nuclear energy resources. . . .

On March 12, EPA followed through with an announcement of what it called the “biggest deregulatory action in U.S. history.” The announcement identified and listed some 31 EPA regulations and programs as unduly burdening the American economy, and therefore targeted for extinction. These ranged from rules designed to eliminate fossil fuel-fired power plants (called “Clean Power Plan 2.0,” or CPP 2.0), to rules restricting automobile emissions (and effectively mandating electric vehicles), to the massive “greenhouse gas reporting program,” and many, many more. The first item at the top of the list for elimination was CPP 2.0. However, at that time, the actual process for rescinding these various rules had not yet begun, and it remained unclear what approach EPA might take to effect the rescissions.

As regards CPP 2.0, that ambiguity ended on June 11, when there appeared on EPA’s website a “pre-publication” version of the document intended to initiate the rescission of CPP 2.0. The title is “Repeal of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards for Fossil Fuel-Fired Electric Generating Units” The actual regulatory rescission process formally begins when this document gets published in what is called the Federal Register. Apparently, that will occur tomorrow, June 17.

There are several notable things about this document. First, it signals that CPP 2.0 will be eliminated through a process of formal “notice and comment” rulemaking under the Administrative Procedure Act. Second, it lays out the schedule and procedures for the rescission, thus giving an indication of when the process will be concluded (and ripe for judicial review). Third, it provides the rationale for the rescission, grounding that rationale in the language of the relevant statute (here Clean Air Act Section 111). And fourth — and most significant in my view — it uses a rationale that implicitly undoes and undermines the Biden-era “Endangerment Finding” that underlies all of the government’s greenhouse gas regulations. And it does that without ever confronting the so-called “science” of greenhouse warming. I’ll take these points one at a time.

The first seven or so pages of EPA’s document set forth the procedure and schedule of the prospective rescission. There will be a virtual public hearing 15 days after Federal Register publication (thus, in early July). Comments will be due 45 days after Federal Register publication. That means that the comment period can be closed by some time in early August. After that, EPA must respond to the comments before finalizing its action. They will want to be careful in doing that. (Any slip-up can give an opening to a court to enjoin its action.) However, relative to other rule makings, there will be no occasion in this one to modify the rule’s language in response to comments, since the rule is being eliminated entirely. I highly doubt that any commenter is going to dissuade the current EPA from rescinding this rule. While this is somewhat speculative, I expect that the rescission can be finalized by early fall. And then, on to the litigation!

Fort Cavazos Returning to its Original name Fort Hood

Fort Cavazos is returning to its original name, Fort Hood

In 2023, President Joe Biden chose to rename posts across the country that honored Confederate soldiers

Now, President Donald Trump is erasing that recent change

FORT HOOD, Texas – The United States Army reinstated the names of seven posts, including one historic site in Central Texas.

Fort Cavazos is returning to its original name, Fort Hood.

Why is the post changing back to Fort Hood?

What they’re saying

“We never served at Cavasos,” said Lee Opacki, who previously served at Fort Hood. “I never served at Fort Cavasos, but I did do two rotations at Fort Hood, so it’s kind of a mixed feeling.”

The army post in Killeen, Texas, has been operating under the title of Fort Cavazos since 2023.

“Originally, I was against the Cavasos name change from Fort Hood because I served here, and many of my soldiers and predecessors served here,” said Opacki. “As I started researching about General Cavasos and his lineage, I started to understand why it was important to name it that.”

Under the previous administration, President Joe Biden chose to rename posts across the country that honored Confederate soldiers. Now, President Donald Trump is erasing that recent change.

Although these stations’ initial titles will be restored, it will be in recognition of different service members with the same last names.
