Trump was a Huge Mistake, to the Establishment

TR wanted to be president again. He thought Taft was doing a mediocre job. And he argued (with a certain logic) that he’d never really had the two terms to which an American president was traditionally entitled because he’d only been elected president once—his first term, remember, had merely been the completion of McKinley’s.

But the Republican Party hated TR even more by 1912, even if the voters adored him. So they renominated Taft against the popular consensus. In response, TR founded a third party, the infamous “Bull Moose” party. This split the Republican vote, though in the process, TR got more votes than Taft, the only time in history that one of the two main parties finished in third place. This handed the presidency to Woodrow Wilson, one of the most destructive men of the 20th century (and the first academic to be elected president). Wilson never would have stood a chance had the Republican nomination gone to TR—he was elected with a mere 41 percent of the vote, an historic low.

But from the Republican perspective, it was better to lose the presidential race and have a Democrat in power with whom they could work—one who could play the game and be part of the machine—than it was to have someone who couldn’t be controlled. They never again made the mistake of nominating a man who wasn’t under their thumb. At least, not until 2016.

So remember: The GOP isn’t really our party. It never was. That is the central truth that the Trump phenomenon has exposed—or exposed anew. It’s a political machine, just like the Democratic Party, and it wants to run itself, not be run by “ordinary” people like you and me. Trump’s nomination the first time around, from the GOP’s perspective, was a huge mistake, just as TR’s had been. And they have no intention of repeating that kind of mistake.

The GOP and the Democrats and the media are all agreed on one, central point: Trump cannot become president again. All these power groups’ motivations are different, but their interests are aligned, and the stakes are practically existential.

Keep the story of the 1900 Republican Convention in mind, too, when you think of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis: He’s a huge success in Florida, and is the only governor standing up to the federal government in any meaningful way. What could be better than to seduce him away from that role with the promise of the presidency? Kill two birds with one stone, and kill America, too, while you’re at it.

Trump was a huge mistake: He was the biggest mistake machine politicians had made in over a century. The success of Trump’s presidency dealt establishment politicians a heavy blow. A second Trump term might kill them, and they know it.

RON PAUL: We Must Abolish the FBI

As we learn more and more from the “Twitter Files,” it is becoming all too obvious that Federal agencies such as the FBI viewed the First Amendment of our Constitution as an annoyance and an impediment. In Friday’s release from the pre-Musk era, journalist Matt Taibbi makes an astute observation: Twitter was essentially an FBI subsidiary.

The FBI, we now know, was obsessed with Twitter. We learned that agents sent Twitter Trust and Safety chief Yoel Roth some 150 emails between 2020 and 2022. Those emails regularly featured demands from US government officials for the “private” social media company to censor comments and ban commenters they did not like.

The Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF), a US government entity that included the FBI as well as other US intelligence agencies expressly forbidden from domestic activities, numbered 80 agents engaged regularly in telling Twitter which Tweets to censor and which accounts to ban. The Department of Homeland Security brought in outside government contractors and (government-funded) non-governmental organizations to separately pressure Twitter to suppress speech the US government did not like.

US Federal government agencies literally handed Twitter lists of Americans it wanted to see silenced, and Twitter complied. Let that sink in.

This should be a massive scandal and likely it would have been had it occurred under a Trump Administration. Indeed, Congress would be gearing up for Impeachment 3.0 if Trump-allied officials had engaged in such egregious behavior. But since these US government employees were by-and-large acting to suppress pro-Trump sentiment, all we hear are crickets.

What is interesting about these Twitter revelations is how obsessed the FBI and its government partners were with satire and humor. Even minor Twitter accounts with small numbers of followers were constantly flagged by the Feds for censorship and deletion. But knowledge of history helps us understand this obsession: in Soviet times the population was always engaged in joking about the ineptitude, corruption, and idiocy of the political class. Underground publications known as samizdat were rich with satire, humor, and ridicule.

Tyrants hate humor and cannot withstand satire. That is clearly why the FBI (and CIA) was determined to see a heavy hand raised against any American poking fun at the deep state.

There is good news in all of this, however. As Constitutional Law Professor Jonathan Turley wrote over the weekend, a new Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll found that even though the mainstream media has ignored the “Twitter files,” Americans have not. Nearly two-thirds of respondents believe that Twitter was involved in politically-motivated censorship in advance of the 2020 election. Some 70 percent of those polled believe Congress must take action against this corporate/state censorship.

As Professor Turley points out, although the First Amendment only applies to the US government, “it does apply to agents or surrogates of the government. Twitter now admits that such a relationship existed between its former officials and the government.”

So now we have proof that the FBI (along with US intelligence agencies and the Department of Homeland Security) have been acting through “private” social media companies to manipulate what Americans are allowed to say when they communicate with each other.

Is there anything more un-American than that? Personally, I find it sickening.

We do not need the FBI and CIA and other federal agencies viewing us as the enemy and attacking our Constitution. End the Fed…and End the Federal Bureau of Investigation!

Truth Permitted on Twitter

Here are just a few samples:

Defund the FBI.

Arrest and prosecute any member of the FBI who violated the Constitution.

IT’S AS SIMPLE AS THAT.

If the GOP won’t support this, as a pitifully bare minimum, then it’s worthless.

Why, according to the European Union and Adam Schiff, is it ILLEGAL for Twitter to kick out left-wingers, while Facebook gets to kick off right wingers because it’s a private company? @elonmusk ?

The Naivete of Conservatives is more than a little Unnerving

My response to a conservative on Twitter who wrote, “Trump’s not going to jail because he’s not guilty of anything”:

Of course Trump’s not guilty of anything. But criminals are in charge of the FBI, the DOJ, the White House, the entire Democratic Party and much of the Republican Party. Innocent people are arrested all the time under one-party regimes, such as we now have.

Wow … the naivete of conservatives, including pro-Trump people, is unnerving. Do they think they will be saved by magic? Do they think they’re living in a comic book? This is real life. America is an emerging dictatorship. Dictatorships exist to torture, imprison and murder.

What else do they think will happen on our present course? Leftist dictators are 100 percent unencumbered.

If you fantasize that the American Bill of Rights and tradition of (more or less) freedom in the USA will save you, then you might as well be on drugs.

Leftists cannot and will not tolerate living in a world where rational, freedom-loving, life-loving, articulate and principled people are free to speak. Why? BECAUSE THEY ARE NONE OF THESE THINGS. And it makes them look bad.

Republicans TALKED about arresting and charging Hillary Clinton, but never did. Democrats TALKED about arresting and jailing Donald Trump, and are well on their way to doing so. THAT’S the difference between the Evil party, and the Stupid party.

Stop Pussyfooting Around, America. We are in a War.

New “Twitter files” released by Elon Musk show proof of how federal and state governments — even during the end of the Trump administration — monitor social media posts for political content.

Stop pussyfooting around, America. #DefundtheFBI. And arrest all in charge who are responsible. Freedom will not survive if we continue to let tyrants get away with murder. This is war.

Also in the news: “Senate Passes Defense Bill that Repeals Military Coronavirus Vaccine Mandate”.

Sadly, too little, too late. The most freedom-loving soldiers are now gone. Only solution: impeach and arrest Biden and his regime, so this will NEVER happen again.

In a democratic republic, you can’t have elected officials act and speak like tyrants and then not only go unpunished — but remain in power. The moment that happens, you are no longer a democratic republic.

The purpose of a proper government is to PROTECT the rights of individuals to property, life, and the pursuit of happiness. Instead, we are manipulated by those who rule to prop up their narratives and give them whatever sick, evil pleasure it gives them to have power over other people. Or to make money illicitly.

It has to stop. But it shows no sign whatsoever of stopping, because — as of yet — there has been virtually no sign of resistance. We’re sending tyrants a message: It’s OK to do whatever you wish to do to us. We have no limits.

And, so long as you keep sending this message to tyrants, you will get exactly what you deserve.

Get Woke, Go Broke

Get Woke, Go Broke: Washington Post Staff Meeting Erupts Into Chaos As Layoffs Announced After losing more than half a million subscribers in the past two years, did the far-left writers and employees at the Washington Post really think they would avoid any consequences?

It would appear that they are exactly as oblivious as many people suspected.

A recent hidden camera video has surfaced of the latest Washington Post employee “town hall” meeting, in which CEO Fredrick Ryan delivers the bad news that the company will be executing worker layoffs after subscription revenues plummeted.

Not surprisingly, the employees (presumably made up primarily of journalists) erupted into a mass chatter of squawking chickens, demanding answers as well as job guarantees.

The Washington Post has long operated as a mouthpiece/bullhorn for establishment propaganda, and has functioned as an attack dog against conservatives for years rather than an accurate news source. Specifically, the outlet’s use of fraudulent “fact checking” has contributed to a considerable decline in public trust, and this habit accelerated after Jeff Bezos acquired the Post in 2013. Amazon must not be doing so great this holiday season, and funds are drying up.

The corporate media is facing a reckoning this year going into 2023. Their audience numbers are in steep decline and have been since before the covid pandemic. While PPP loans and stimulus measures may have kept some of these outlets afloat, even that life raft is now disappearing along with ever shrinking ad revenues. The real culprit behind the fall of these companies, though, is themselves.

Woke zealotry does not sell. This is a fact proven time and time again, even more so in the past two years. When a media edifice chooses to cater to a tiny percentage of the population, many of them younger zennials with little to no money, it is only a matter of time before they face a profit collapse. The Washington Post is a victim of its own elitist ideology, and many of the employees are just as guilty as the leadership. Get woke, go broke.

Bankman-Fried a Surprise … Seriously?

They loathe freedom and they feel guilty for living in prosperity. They take it out on people who love liberty, life and prosperity.

Expect More Widening of Ukraine Conflict

An Inflexible Putin indicates he is sticking with his go-slow war that results in ever more Western participation. In rare comments on the status of the war, Putin admitted it would likely be a “long process.” https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/putin-risk-nuclear-war-rising-will-defend-russia-all-available-means

Does Putin realize that by needlessly prolonging the conflict he is not only causing unnecessary Russian casualties, but also he could be putting his leadership in danger? Many Russians believe that Putin is making Russia look foolish by inability to bring the conflict to a victorious close. This might also affect recruitment. There is no pride for youth to be in a military force that does not defeat a third world country like Ukraine. Considerations of this sort together with the ability a prolonged conflict gives Washington to expand Western participation in the Ukraine conflict, while building up NATO forces on Russia’s borders, raise serious questions about the wisdom, if any, of Putin’s go-slow limited military intervention. Playing a goody two-shoes role at the expense of your own country doesn’t make sense. Does Putin understand that he cannot simultaneous be at war with Ukraine and protect Ukraine?

Putin seems to be extremely gullible when it comes to dealing with the West. If the West would let him, he would be continuing to supply them with oil and gas even as he is at war with them. Former German Chancellor Merkel has just admitted that the West easily deceived Putin by pretending to go along with the Minsk Agreement, using it as a ploy to deter any Russian response to the murder of Donbass Russians until the West had built up the Ukraine military. Those 8 years Putin spent being fooled has made the conflict in Ukraine far different from what it would have been in 2014. Merkel said the Minsk agreement was “an attempt to give Ukraine time. Ukraine used this time to get stronger, as you can see today. The Ukraine of 2014/15 is not the Ukraine of today. As you saw in the battle for Debaltseve in early 2015, Putin could easily have overrun them at the time. And I very much doubt that the NATO countries could have done as much then as they do now to help Ukraine.” https://www.rt.com/news/567863-merkel-minsk-stronger-ukraine/

Ukraine’s post-coup US installed president, Pyotr Poroshenko, confirms Merkel’s admission. RT reports: “Pyotr Poroshenko, who became president of Ukraine after the 2014 US-backed coup in Kiev, told a domestic audience in August 2015 that Minsk was a ruse to buy time for a military build-up. He admitted as much to the West in July 2022, in an interview with German media.”

Having wasted 8 years relying on peace diplomacy spurned by Washington, Putin then took half-way measures when Russian success required a quick and complete victory to prevent Washington’s involvement. Consequently, the problems for Russia have multiplied with an ever widening war leading, as Putin warns, to nuclear war.

Yet Putin sticks with a policy that has not worked for 8 years, a policy that plays into the hands of Washington’s neoconservatives.
