Marx Still Reigns Supreme—But Why ?

Why and how did this angry, odious, insufferable fantasist become the intellectual lodestar for the global left?

This week, with the global celebration of May Day and with the ongoing protests on the nation’s college campuses, it is worth remembering that the man who largely inspired both was a hateful, intellectually shallow misanthrope, remembered by history and admired by jesters and dupes largely because of his odiousness.

The First of May is celebrated by socialists around the world, not specifically because of Karl Marx but to honor the anarchists hanged for the Haymarket Affair in Chicago in 1886. Nevertheless, this “International Labor Day” has very much become a Marxist tradition, formerly commemorated with parades and ceremonies by the Soviet Bloc nations and still very much acclaimed by those who still revere Marx and his communist ideology.

Marx is likewise celebrated these days in the pro-Hamas camps on America’s college campuses. The ideology of struggle expressed by the protesters is very much in the Marxist tradition. Reams of Marxist literature have been collected at various abandoned/disbanded protest sites around the country, most notably on the UCLA campus. And, of course, Marxist organizations and agitators have been front and center throughout the demonstrations. As the inimitable Mike Gonzales has repeatedly stated, noting that Marxism is always at the forefront of these types of protests: “The issue is never the issue. The issue is the revolution.”

The question is why. Why is Karl Marx, of all people, so adored and admired by the world’s angry and disillusioned youth? He was but one of hundreds of thousands of 19th-century communists and but one of hundreds of leftist intellectuals and theorists of his era. Why him?

The fact of the matter is that Marx was a loathsome person who hated nearly everyone and everything. He was aggressively lazy and didn’t have any knowledge of business, capitalism, or even any connection to the working class. As the late, great Paul Johnson noted, “the only member of the working class that he ever knew at all well, his one real contact with the ‘proletariat,’ was his household maid, Helene Demuth.” And so concerned was he with her plight that he forced himself on her, got her pregnant, denied paternity of her child, convinced Engels to pretend to be the father, and only met the child on one occasion.

More to the point, Marx was known by his friends, contemporaries, and even admirers to be a crackpot. Some of his erstwhile allies mocked his ideology as a quasi-religious attempt to replace Christian morality with something strikingly similar (Max Stirner). Some admired his ideas “in theory” but knew that they had no chance whatsoever to work “in praxis” (Ferdinand Lassalle). And still others candidly acknowledged that his economic schemes were borderline insane. Writing more than a half-century later, the renowned American leftist literary critic Edmund Wilson conceded that Marx’s foundational work, Kapital, “contains a treatise on economics, a history of industrial development, and an inspired tract for the times; and the morality, which is part of the time suspended in the interests of scientific objectivity, is no more self-consistent than the economics is consistently scientific or the history undistracted by the exaltation of apocalyptic vision.”

In short, Marx’s theories were a mess—and everyone knew it, even before World War I proved them so and forced a full-scale “revision” of the entire movement.

So again, why Marx? Why and how did this angry, odious, insufferable fantasist become the intellectual lodestar for the global left?

The answer is complicated, obviously, but can largely be broken down into three primary contributing factors.

First, Marx’s obnoxiousness proved to be an advantage as much as a liability. Marx was a bully. Indeed, he was among the most practiced and skilled bullies in the world. Anyone who dared to contradict him or to offer a competing theory of leftism was an open target for aggressive and hostile rebuttal. Marx attacked nearly all his one-time friends, including Stirner, Weitling, Bauer, and Feuerbach. He attacked the utopian socialists who preceded him. He attacked the anarchists who followed him. He attacked everyone, and he attacked them viciously and, for the most part, effectively. He successfully bullied all his potential competitors for intellectual supremacy of the left into submission or exile, often

Second, Marx was a “revolutionary” in the sense that he advocated violent overthrow of the existing regime. Whereas many of his contemporaries were mere theorists or incrementalists, Marx favored bold, dramatic, society-transforming action. Indeed, he believed that a violent, destructive, and bloody revolution was a necessary component of the communist transformation.

Needless to say, such violent fantasies often appeal to the young and disaffected. Although most of Marx’s contemporaries favored the incremental establishment of their ideology, those who were especially antisocial and disgruntled with the status quo found his illusions of brutal heroism cathartic and enticing. Much the same is true today, as it was in the period between Marx’s and our own…

Which brings us to the third reason Marx is so revered today.

Among those who admired Marx’s call for bloody revolution was a singular psychopath who, when he was merely 17, saw his brother Sasha hanged by the Czar, who was exiled to Siberia when he was 25, and who spent much of the rest of his adulthood bouncing around and being thrown out of various countries in Europe for advocating violence in Marx’s name. That psychopath—known as Lenin—would eventually be given safe passage back to Russia by the German government, who rightfully anticipated that he would end Russia’s participation in World War I. Almost immediately after his famous arrival at the Finland Station in Petrograd, Lenin began consolidating power. In time, he would become the world’s first prolific mass murderer—thereby proving Marx’s augury of widespread bloodshed correct. He would also found, in March 1919, the Communist International (the Comintern), which he would use to place spies and Marxist advocates among the labor leaders in nearly every major nation on earth.

The rest, as they say, is history—ugly, brutal, repetitious, and painfully stupid history. Karl Marx was a crackpot with a shockingly poor understanding of history and economics. The same can be said of his multitudes of modern-day disciples. If they were otherwise, clearly, they wouldn’t be his disciples.

America’s Future is Here — On Campus

Booking photos (courtesy of students4trump on Facebook/Instagram) of antisemitic, totalitarian, ignorant barbarians arrested at UT Texas. Lovely Americans, aren’t they? Just think: If we defunded all universities tomorrow, none of these creeps (or their professors) would last 5 minutes. All of today’s insanity is paid for by the productive who are the targets of these little monsters. And yes, if we still had a border and if we still had a military empowered to destroy America’s enemies rather than destroy America, we would not even have to view their booking photos.

Here’s betting they end up released. Again, you people voting for Biden, DemComs and RINOs … enjoy!

Militant Islam and Today’s Radicalized Democrats: Perfect Together!

Militant Islam and the woke Communism-fascism of our radicalized Bidenista Democrats are ideological and practical soulmates.

Each advocates brute force to attain its goals.

Each denigrates the individual in favor of a higher power — in one case the omnipotent Allah, in the other case the omnipotent progressive State.

Each despises dissension and utilizes authority to shame and ultimately assassinate all opposing opinions. As goes Donald Trump go all dissenters. Even on the college campus, the LAST place where freedom of speech and thought should be repressed!

What else could you expect but the spectacle of America’s most well-educated youth embracing terrorism? Where, on any of these campuses, will they ever encounter an alternate viewpoint?

Mark my words: They do not only want Jews incinerated. They want MAGA Republicans, conservatives, Christians, libertarians, and anyone else insufficiently woke extinguished.

The woke nihilism enveloping our culture enjoys its most undiluted version on campus. It’s not a leap (nor even a small step) from militant leftism to the unhinged screams of “freedom for Palestine.” Remember: Ivy League students set the course and direction of our culture. These screams are the not-too-distant future of America and what used to be the free world.

All of you who vote for and applaud leftism — enjoy!

“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”

Who Funds Hamas ?  You Do Thanks to Old Joe !

It’s all out in the open now. The House voted 366-58 on Saturday to send $9.1 billion to Gaza, and that means $9.1 billion to Hamas. This isn’t the first time that the Biden regime has made clear which side it’s on, and it likely won’t be the last. But this time, Old Joe and his henchmen are getting some pushback.

The $9.1 billion is earmarked, of course, as “humanitarian assistance,” but that ruse is fooling fewer and fewer people. Just The News reported Friday that the bill is “under scrutiny” in the first place because the amount that Gaza will be getting is “significantly more than the annual gross domestic product of the Gaza Strip,” and no safeguards are in place to ensure that the money will not fall into the wrong hands: “critics say the U.S. is essentially funding Hamas through the bill.”

Officially, this massive cash outlay is for “Migration and Refugee Assistance” and “International Disaster Assistance.” It is so massive, in fact, that it is “more than four times the amount of the annual GDP in the Gaza Strip, which was about $2 billion last year, according to the United Nations.” The Gaza Strip is about to be awash in American money, and that means that even if Hamas has already burned through the $10 billion that Old Joe Biden and his henchmen sent to Hamas’ money men in Tehran last month, more billions are on their way.

The Biden regime doesn’t want you to worry about this. The bill “calls for the Secretary of State to establish oversight measures to ensure that the aid is not diverted by Hamas,” but really, what can he possibly do short of establishing an American military presence in Gaza? Hamas controls Gaza. There is no force in Gaza that is strong enough to stand up to Hamas. So provisos written into legislation drafted and passed in faraway Washington, D.C. is one thing, but the reality on the ground in Gaza is something else altogether, and the Biden regime must know that.

Morton Klein, President of the Zionist Organization of America, stated it plainly: “Biden and this administration knows that almost all of it,” that is, the aid, “is stolen by Hamas.” That leads to an inescapable conclusion: “We are funding Hamas. Do you realize the nightmare of this? We are funding Hamas with this 9 billion. What is wrong with this administration?”

Well, that last question would take longer to answer than there is space on the Internet, but Klein is right: the Biden regime is funding Hamas, which means that American taxpayers are getting soaked to provide for the upkeep of jihad terrorists. Klein also pointed out that by waiving sanctions on Iran and ensuring that billions flow into the mullahs’ coffers, the Biden regime was “funding the biggest funder of terrorism of Islamic terrorism in the world.”

Morton Klein was not alone in noticing where the money is going. Ramzi Awda, who as the secretary-general of the International Campaign to Combat the Occupation and Apartheid is no friend of Israel, said that an “armed militia of Hamas” steals the aid that comes into Gaza. He added: “Most of the aid is being stolen – over 60% or 70% of the aid goes to the warehouses of some movements, some factions, some tribes.” Hamas jihadis, he says, then “re-sell the products to the people at exorbitant prices.”

Klein concluded: “This administration should be ashamed of themselves for funding Hamas and the biggest funder of terrorism in the world, Iran. It’s just mind-boggling.” Yes indeed, Mr. Klein, but for Biden regime wonks to be ashamed of themselves, they would have to be capable of shame. If anything is clear from the tragicomedy of the last three years, it is that shame is not a concept with which regime apparatchiks are familiar. They maintain with a straight face that men can become women, that these pretend women should be able to compete in women’s sports, even though they make women’s sports a mockery. They claim that the Southern border is secure. They insist that Old Joe Biden is energetic and sharp as a tack, leaving people who are decades younger exhausted after trying to keep up with his whirlwind of activity. Shame? The Biden regime doesn’t know the meaning of the word.

The Ukraine Scam May Be the Biggest in History

The latest, most expensive “wisdom” being shoved down our throats.

“Russia’s Putin is a tyrant. The enemy of Putin is our friend. Therefore, we should give unlimited sums of money to Putin’s friend.”

Faulty premise # 1: WE are not doing anything. The Biden regime does not represent you and I. Mitch McConnell and the other Senate Republicans (the majority of them) do not represent you and I. None of them represent the Constitution. They represent (1) their own wallets and (2) their unending thirst for power (which is why some of them have been career politicians for 60 years and counting).

Faulty premise # 2: Just because money goes from one government to another does not mean it’s accomplishing what you think it’s accomplishing. Equating money with “help” is not tenable, especially where governments are involved. Governments do not own or create the wealth being transferred. They face no scrutiny or accountability. They don’t have to do ANYTHING other than ACT — i.e., make it LOOK LIKE they’re doing what you assume and hope they’re doing with the money. If you actually think the people we have in power are even remotely capable of such a thing, then I cannot help you, and will not reason or argue with you.

Faulty premise # 3: People who plan 10 years in advance for handouts are not aiming at independence or freedom. It would be one thing if an innocent person being attacked operated on the premise, “I’m going to defend myself. If you can help me, you’re welcome to join!” It’s entirely another when that supposedly innocent person lobbies for billions upon billions of dollars and says, “I’m going to need your help for this attack for at least the next 10 years.” The money was already flowing in an open-ended, unaccountable form as it was. And how attacked is this Ukrainian “leader” we’re supposed never to question or criticize? He visits America regularly, and his wife shops on Fifth Avenue in New York City. He acts and looks a lot more like someone aiming to copy the Biden crime family model of living off the government. There’s reams of evidence linking the Bidens to the Ukrainian government going back years; and this is the evidence that managed to slip through the overwhelmingly one party media, mostly during the Trump years. Imagine what we don’t know.

Always make sure your ASSUMPTIONS are true before you conclude anything.

We Are Watching Nazi Germany: The Sequel … and Today’s Leftists are Worse

Actually, the truth is far worse than brainwashing. If you believe these show trials, or in any remote way take them as valid, you are the 21st century, far less innocent equivalent of the people who looked the other way in 1930s Germany. And you WILL soon be giving the Donald Trump treatment to your lower profile fellow men who challenge our toxic, intellectually and morally feeble authorities.

I said the same thing at the end of the first two Obama terms, and now again at the winding down of his third term: Why are leftists so miserable? They have everything. Not only Congress, the presidency, the agenda of both major parties, the Supreme Court, the media, all universities from Harvard to community colleges, all primary and secondary schools, the entire medical profession, the woke military, the Papacy and at least 75 percent of the under 30 population. They practically have a dictatorship, and are about to imprison (via a bunch of kangaroo courts) the only meaningful alternative candidate for high office, their ultimate nemesis Donald Trump.

And yet they are still screaming victimhood.

Only one explanation is possible: These are miserable, wretched, broken souls. They will never be happy. And they are ruthlessly determined to bring us all down with them. It’s a spiritual and literal suicide-homicide, the most spectacular in human history.

Why Inflation Doesn’t Matter to the Tyrants Imposing It On Us

Remember, while you are training for diversity and inclusion, someone else is training for war. When you meet, they will win.”
(unknown author)

It’s true. The first obligation of human life is survival. When people threaten your existence, or your freedom, you first must take care of that problem. Concerns about diversity and inclusion — rational and justified, or not — must come later. This isn’t an opinion. It’s a self-evident fact.

I maintain that the powers that be — the people in our government, and their stalwarts in the media, schools and culture — already know this. The worst and most powerful of them are not stupid.

The insanity we’re seeing with “diversity and inclusion” — extending even to a fraction of one percent of the population, people confused about their gender — is a twofer.

What’s the twofer?

One, divide and conquer. Tyrants have used this since the beginning of human society. Abusive family members have used this tool since families first began.

Two, distract people from the need to arm up for survival. And then go in for the kill. Again, one of the oldest tools in the tyrant’s toolkit.

The Chinese Communists are brilliant at divide, conquer and distract. They’re in for the long game, on a rarely seen scale. The militant Muslims, while less cool about it, are also in for the long-game, chipping away at infidels until they wipe them all out. The Soviets were like this, but they tended to brag and talk about their future, anticipated victory that never came. The Chinese Communists are quiet about it. That’s one reason they’re winning. The latest news was that they’re establishing beachheads in the Caribbean. The Biden regime claims to be upset about it, but will do nothing. Notice how they never do anything. Not because of weakness. But because they don’t want the U.S. to prevail. Isn’t that obvious? Biden and his criminal family have financial stakes in the survival of America’s enemies. There’s a lot of money in China. And with Ukraine’s corrupt regime (just as corrupt as Putin), who — while not explicitly an enemy — is draining our already spiraling national debt into infinity. That’s all the Biden crime family cares about, and that’s all anybody in power cares about: money and power. What else would motivate you to become and remain a career politician? They’re all taking their cut — of money, and also unearned power. As Ayn Rand would say, their grabs for unearned money and power fill the void where their self-respect, self-esteem and humanity should have been.

Earth to patriots, conservatives, libertarians and others: We are way, way beyond the limits set up by our Bill of Rights and Constitution. Those are just a tonic to appease people into thinking they’re more free than they really are. In America, especially, people view their freedom in terms of economic power over their lives. It’s that post-war, 1950s concept; and it was, at its peak, truly a beautiful thing. It’s still there, in practice, though it’s diminishing by the hour, especially with inflation.

In principle, that power of the average, middle class person over his economic destiny went out the window more than a century ago, when the U.S. started to go off the gold standard — meaning, a free market — and into the realm of government-influenced fiat currency, via the Federal Reserve. Read the insightful and informative works of Henry Hazlitt, George Reisman and Ludwig von Mises for a better understanding of economics. Also (believe it or not) the works of the early, brilliant Alan Greenspan, writing back in the 1960s before he joined the Swamp.

Today it’s way beyond the Federal Reserve. There’s government-controlled inflation (i.e., expansion of the money supply), explicitly designed to curb or eliminate the middle class. Inflation will not hurt the elites, and it will not hurt the poor, who depend on the government anyway. The elimination of the middle class will put mass numbers of people into the poor category, which means the government-dependent category. Check out Cuba, Venezuela, later Soviet Russia and even China, still, despite the economic development in that country.

You don’t have a middle class in totalitarian countries. That’s why inflation is actually a benefit, not a harm, to those who seek unearned wealth and power. The Bidens are simply one rather comically grotesque illustration of this principle. Plenty of others wait their turn, in both parties.
