Why I’m Happy Not to Be a Democrat

I like being not-a-leftist Democrat. Actually, I feel kind of sorry for Democrats. Why?

They don’t get the exhilaration of critical thinking.

They’ve been exposed only to one point-of-view. Whether from government schools, or from musicians, sports networks, sports players, politically correct corporations or anything else that touches their lives, it’s all ONE way of thinking.

They haven’t had the experience of hearing both sides. Or multiple sides. They haven’t had the joy of checking their premises, as Ayn Rand would say. An example of checking your premise is examining sacred but not necessarily true beliefs such as, “It’s government’s job to run the economy and relieve all suffering.” Or: “I am my brother’s keeper, and I’ve got to make sure others know I believe this.” Or: “Gender is fluid, even if that makes no sense, gender is fluid.”

Democrats are in a constant state of fear. The worst ones act the fear out, as we see with Maxine Waters and Antifa. They literally cannot handle the fear they’re living with, which is why they call for violence against anyone who disagrees with them. The fear is a psychologically inevitable human response to the constant pressure coming from one’s subconscious mind that says, “It’s intolerable that I’m wrong. I can’t let in anything that suggests I might be wrong. It would bring down everything.”

When you see people like Antifa thugs and Maxine Waters, you’re looking at mean, rotten and bad people. But you’re also looking at people who are miserable and suffering. And they deserve every bit of it.

People with non-left points of view have seen mental suffering and emotional disorder on parade since Donald Trump became elected. Donald Trump is a constant reminder to leftist Democrats that not everyone agrees with them, and that some who disagree with them actually have confidence, and are not intimidated by them. From the point-of-view of someone who’s perpetually afraid, and therefore angry, it’s an awful way to live. Yes, you can just ignore politics, but politics (thanks to leftists) is now part of culture — sports, music, education, the arts, television, movies, and politics is EVERYWHERE. And you cannot live in a technology-driven society and ignore culture.

Conservatives, libertarians and others who endured eight years of Obama’s presidency learned how to cope. We could watch the news selectively or even go underground and find alternate news sources. We knew, all along, there are different ways of thinking. Might the country go down? It could. Back then that was true, and that’s true now too. But at least there’s a different way of approaching government, economics, rights and even life itself. All is not lost until it’s over.

For Democrats, it’s different. It’s maddening and intolerable to most of them that others don’t share their views. They’re like militant Muslims in this respect. Infidels in their midst quite literally make them crazy. They cannot escape the reminders. They’re not about minding their own business. They’re interfering, by nature, or at least by programming. They view it as being a social justice warrior, or a “progressive”. But it’s really the warrior part they tap into, which is why they’re always in such a rage. It might manifest as spitting on or throwing rocks at peaceful supporters at a Donald Trump rally, or it might mean personally attacking people on Facebook or Twitter who don’t share their views, or it might mean supporting a ludicrous campaign against using straws. They don’t know what to do. These are not the actions or mentalities of stable people. Oppose them with all your might, but also feel a little sorry for them.

Non-Democrats have been exposed to a relentless display of indoctrination from the leftists who dominate our culture. I heard a great analogy recently. Imagine a room full of people. Maybe 20 percent are hardened leftists. The rest are something else, or perhaps uncertain. That’s our society. There’s actually a diversity of opinions out there. Many are uncertain. Some are truly moderate, at least in the sense of wanting to utilize critical thinking to form conclusions. But the microphone in the room is almost totally controlled by the loud-mouthed, bullying and often polished people of the indoctrinated point-of-view.

With all the dependence on social media these days for getting all points-of-view out there, it’s more than a little frightening. Social media companies are run by these same indoctrinated, loud-mouthed pricks who dominate the room with the microphone, even though the majority might reside somewhere else, intellectually and politically.

If America stays true with its history, the free market and the First Amendment will carry us through. People who value critical thinking will go elsewhere, diminishing the profits of these profit-hating socialists like Facebook and Twitter, and perhaps even shutting them down via market forces. Time will tell.

Regardless, even if they manage to win and somehow destroy America in the end, I still won’t ever envy Democrats. Being filled with hatred and anxiety betrays the unmasking of a soul riddled with self-doubt. Their sneers and their intimidation have to be fought with greater and superior force, to be sure. But not so deep down, they’re as weak as can be.

That’s what the rest of us must learn to understand. It will help us defeat them.

Why Do Liberals hate Liberty?

By Joshua Dietz

Queers for Palestine, pro-sharia feminists, legal citizens advocating for open borders – what motivates people to take up such suicidal causes? Who seeks to be ruled by tyranny?  To that point, how does one view slavery as liberation?   How is it that in the United States of America, free speech has become something to malign?  Why do Americans have more empathy toward foreigners than their own countrymen?  Why is it considered a moral good to steal from the few to reward the many?  In the country that invented freedom, why is libertarianism so rare?  Why do Leftists hate liberty?

These are tricky questions to answer, but here are a few items worth considering:

Liberty is difficult to achieve because it requires a system of principles supporting it.  Self-ownership is paramount; the individual is best directed when self-directed.  Unlike faux-liberals, libertarians practice true tolerance: the ability to work alongside and co-exist with truly diverse peoples.  The dutifully liberty-minded recognize the interconnectedness of society, and the significance of their decisions.  Such decisions are significant because of the impact they may have on others.  Poor decisions make for harsh consequences.  For liberty to exist, empathy must persist.

Libertarianism also requires regular and stringent reality-testing.  One must adapt to the raw data of lived experience.  In economic terms, libertarians are market facing: they are oriented to the needs of others.  This means considering how a strategy would functionally work and what benefit it would have for others.  All things created equal, if something fails we can reasonably say it didn’t sufficiently meet the needs of the market.  Libertarianism is less like a political ideology, and more akin to a pragmatic tool for achieving freedom and equality of opportunity.  However, it is not the only method for achieving political ends.

It has been said that the personal is political; if true, we may have an answer to the problems outlined above.  In this theory, the personal strife of the individual forms the nexus of their political activism.  Often, the challenges an individual must contend with are rooted in their biological and environmental constraints.  Given the biological and ecological diversity of man, the civic arena is necessarily dominated by identity politics and special interest groups.  With no higher value to aspire towards, political discourse shrinks to the civilization-shattered level of intellectual primitivity.

Women will continue to vote for greater reproductive control, while immigrants (legal and otherwise) will advocate for greater access to social services.  Every ethnic and cultural minority will lobby for ever-more government money, because it is in their biological interest to do so.  Commitment to the value of liberty is eroded even among its greatest benefactors, a trend which is typified by the emergence of individuals like Richard Spencer.

Ultimately food, sex, social class, and survival are the strongest biological motivators of our behavior.  High-minded notions of liberty struggle to compete because people are encouraged to view the conditions of their existence with resentment, rather than gratitude.  Every bad impulse is rewarded, and each vice is venerated.  Confirmations of prejudice are taken for grand declarations of truth.  Success in the future becomes a fool’s errand; there is only the fortitude-melting bliss of the moment.

For Leftists slavery is their great solace.  They abscond from moral agency by accepting and glorifying their perceived oppression.  They were formed in oppression, and count the oppressed people of the world among their allies.  Possessed by a politik of personal identity, they become tyrants themselves.  Tyrants loath freedom, for it represents everything that they are not and cannot be.  Freedom is incongruent with their childhood experiences, which were likely to have also been heavily tyrannized.  These identitarians would prefer to commit cultural (and actual) seppuku than accept dominion over themselves.  Consumed by narcissism and hypersensitivity, they are too crippled to understand the needs of others.

And yet there is a logic in their cause: Leftists cannot survive in a free and open market.  When true competition is encouraged, their products and ideas fall by the wayside.  In a culture of freedom and choice, Leftists suffer an existential question, “How do I get attention when people are no longer forced to stare at me?”  Freedom is a severe threat, as they can only live in a prison.  They desire to be slaves of the powerful, and to lust after them.  Leftists cannot know liberty because they cannot free themselves of these desires.  While Liberty-minded individuals fight to be free of centralized power, Leftists being the tyrants that they are, want a total monopoly on power.  For these reasons (and likely others), Leftists hate liberty.

Socialism can’t flourish without ignorance

Socialism can’t flourish without ignorance

The capacity of human beings for making the same mistake again and again is exceeded only by the capacity of their governments to enshrine those mistakes in law.

To err is human; to forgive, divine – but what are we to do when a significant segment of our population has grown so enamored of an error that they lose the capability to recognize it as such?  Indeed, they become violently defensive at the mere mention of reassessing their beliefs.

A difficult situation is made untenable when the error involved has dangerous ramifications for everyone, not just those making the mistake.

This is where 21st-century America finds itself today, relative to that perennial error known as socialism.

The base of support for this long discredited ethos is multi-layered, with each layer supporting the error from a different foundation.

The largest element stands on a foundation of ignorance – they are simply unaware of the history and track record of collectivist schemes in general and socialism in particular.

Absent a frame of reference, members of this group are vulnerable to the socialist’s siren song and soon find themselves singing along about fairness, equality, and justice, not realizing that the composer of the song lacks the instruments necessary to play it, unless he first takes them from someone else.

This group is the weakest, and a great many members can be peeled away from the collectivist concert by opening their eyes to the nuts and bolts of their newfound political plaything.  Once realizing that the price of admission involves the surrender of personal choice, they either abandon the effort or graduate to the next group.

The next echelon recognizes the shortcomings of socialism but is unwilling to accept these inevitable failures as fundamental flaws of the system itself, preferring to either ignore the murderous history of the creed entirely or blame the failures on interference by outside, nefarious influences.  In their eyes, every stumble must’ve been the result of being tripped; every fall surely must have been preceded by a shove.

These are the true believers, standing on a foundation of near religious fervor, willing to risk life and limb to prove to the world that socialism can work, if only operated by the right people, with the right funding and the support of right-minded people.

It is a rare occasion that sees one of this crowd abandoning the “faith.”  I suggest not wasting the effort to turn them.  Only abject, personal disaster can move them, as any outside attempt will be seen as validation of their paranoid worldview.

The final level know full well the ramifications of the policies they are advocating.  They know the history, they understand the fatal flaws and are fully prepared to sacrifice the lives and fortunes of as many people as necessary to gain and maintain power.

These are standing atop a foundation of concupiscence, manipulating the worst elements of human nature, as would a tradesman with a tool.  Undergirding their every decision is a longing for unfettered power and unaccountable control.

These are the leaders who know the system well enough to have monetized it, operating it as a machine from which they draw wealth and power to themselves.  They orchestrate the narrative by using the true believers to mobilize the first group, those ignorant of socialism and its hellish consequences, to fight the “other,” whoever that might be at the time.  This is the genesis of #Resist.

To this nation’s eternal credit, we shunned one such leader during the last presidential election.  Now we must erode the influence of the leaders that took her place and the true believers who yet do her bidding by educating the first group, the ignorant and misinformed.

We have a history of success on our side – freedom blooms wherever planted, while socialism cannot boast of a single blossom, much less fruit.  Most important of all, they cannot long deny the trail of bodies numbering in the hundreds of millions, all victims of their unforgivable error.

So start talking.  We have to shine the light in the darkest corners.  There is an entire generation hanging in the balance.
