Ukraine Update

Begin by ½³2reading Michael Hudson’s explanation that the sanctions actually fall on Germany and serve the interests of the three interest groups who rule in Washington. https://www.unz.com/mhudson/america-defeats-germany-for-the-third-time-in-a-century/ The sanctions do far more to serve Washington’s interest than to hurt Russia’s. For Russia the main burden of the sanctions is the insult.

Russia is in position to issue crippling sanctions against the US and Europe, but so far has not done so. The Russians seem determined to prevail with as little force as possible. The Kremlin has not paralyzed Germany by turning off the gas. The Russians have not nationalized US and European assets. The Russians have not disrupted global supply chains by refusing to sell minerals. The Russians have not stopped the export of wheat. The Russians have not issued international arrest orders for American and European war criminals for their crimes against humanity in Serbia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and for their various assassinations.

On the military front, the Ukrainian forces are essentially surrounded and incapable of counterattack or effective resistance except for some Nazi militias that have ensconced their heavy weapons among concentrations of civilians. Under the Kremlin’s current rules, the Russian forces are prohibited from firing heavy weapons into civilian areas. The Russians, of course, get no credit for this. The Western presstitutes continue to repeat fake news of indiscriminate Russian attacks on civilians.

It demonstrates the stupidity of Western people that they believe Russia would waste military resources on non-military targets. As Putin said, the West “is an empire of lies.” Soon we will be reading in the New York Times and hearing on NPR and CNN that Russian troops are throwing premature babies out of incubators and bayonetting children.

The West yells and screams threats and accusations because it can’t do anything else. Western morons threaten to send ISIS jihadists into Ukraine to fight Russians, to send in US veterans as volunteers, of raising a mercenary force in Poland. At the same time we hear Ukraine has stopped the Russian advance and is winning. So why are all of the fanciful outside forces needed?

The Ukrainian foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, calls for the UN to “disarm Russia,” an unimaginable feat. One wonders how Kuleba is a foreign minister when the Ukraine government does not control Ukraine. The French finance minister, Bruno Le Maire, declares “total economic and financial war on Russia,” and is told by Russian Security Council deputy chairman Dmitry Medvedev to “watch his words” or he will end up with a real war. The idiotic European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen announced that the EU is going to send the Ukrainians jet fighters via Poland, and was promptly contradicted by Poland’s president, Andrej Duda: “We are not sending any jets to Ukraine because that would open a military interference in the Ukrainian conflict. We are not joining that conflict. NATO is not a party to that conflict.” https://www.rt.com/news/550955-poland-bulgaria-deny-warplanes-ukraine/

Putin has warned NATO countries about supplying arms. Any such arms shipments would be destroyed in transit. Russia controls Ukrainian air space. The Ukrainian forces are surrounded. How are arms to reach them? Why is the idiot West trying to prolong a lost war? Why hasn’t the White House told Zelensky to surrender and negotiate the best deal he can get with Russia?

Nowhere in the West’s impotent bluster is there any talk of putting Ukraine in NATO. Instead, there is talk of putting Ukraine in the EU. The EU is an economic alliance, not a military one, and it is unclear what it means for a government in exile to be a member. Ukraine’s future depends on Russia pulling out after she achieves her aims.

For years I have written that Russia’s patience with the West would not last forever, and unless the West quit pushing, Russia would push back. I said that the longer Russia waited the more forcibly she would have to push. I said that considering the utter stupidity of the entire Western world, the situation would become dangerous. With Russia and the US on nuclear alert, the situation is dangerous. If the US puppets in Europe who rule their countries in Washington’s interest ignore Putin’s warning not to interfere in the Ukrainian house cleaning operation, they could find themselves under attack, and then impotent NATO would have to put up or shut up. Watch now as the total stupidity of the West–“the empire of lies”– takes it to that point.

How Can an Insane Culture Defend Itself Against Putin

Insanity is a SYMPTOM. The cause of mass insanity is the decline and death of REASON. Absurd overreactions to a virus with a 99.7 percent survival rate happen because of the decline of reason. Wars occur because of the decline of reason. Schools and media, whom we rely upon to fortify our intellectual health, not destroy it, begin to spew out absurd propaganda and brainwashing methods only when reason dies. The world is going berserk: that much is self-evident. To get back sanity, we have to rediscover–and practice–the virtue of rational, objective and independent thought.

Selecting soldiers based on their willingness to get an experimental vaccine, rather than for their love of liberty and their ability to fight, probably was NOT the smartest idea.

If Putin DOES go nuclear, what can Biden possibly do in response? The U.S. is now energy dependent on Russia, and economically declining, with nothing but a demoralized, woke military to defend us.

Young Snowflake Democrats: Inflation means a 10-15 percent pay cut per year, while doing the same work. What good will student loan cancellation and free college be to you then? And what about gas at $5, $6 and $7 a gallon — and rising?

GOP must stop Radical Nomination

President Joe Biden has failed to deliver on my promise to unify the country or restore our reputation abroad, but he did follow through on his commitment to nominate an African American woman to the United States Supreme Court. In the middle of an international crisis he exacerbated, Biden announced his selection of Ketanji Brown Jackson, a far-left judge with an atrocious record on the bench.

As Biden promised, Jackson was nominated due to her gender and race, not her judicial qualifications. This decision perverts the entire Supreme Court nomination process. Instead of choosing the best-qualified nominee for the most important court in the country, a selection was made due to a judicial affirmative action process and to satisfy a perceived need for a racial and gender quota system on the Supreme Court.

Jackson is a Democratic Party activist masquerading as a judge. EvenNBC Newsadmitted that Jackson “fits well (with) the progressive movement’s agenda.”

She is a former donor and volunteer for the Barack Obama presidential campaign. She also donated to the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, prior to the start of her judicial career, Jackson served as a lawyer for several suspected terrorists, including a Taliban intelligence officer, imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay. Jackson’s support of her clients was described as “ideological cause lawyering, even in her capacity as a public defender. At times, she flirted with unsubstantiated left-wing theories that were debunked by government investigators. On other occasions, she accused Justice Department lawyers of egregious misconduct with little evidence.”

To bolster her left-wing credentials, Jackson filed an amicus brief on behalf of the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws (NARAL) and other “pro-choice” groups in the McGuire v. Reilly case. In her brief, she described pro-life activists who protested outside of abortion clinics as “hostile” agitators who subjected women to a “gauntlet” that was like “labor picketing.”

With her progressive credentials established, Jackson was nominated in 2012 by President 0bama for a position on the U.S. District Court in D.C. The following year, she was confirmed by a unanimous voice vote of the U.S. Senate. Obviously, the Republican Senators who supported Jackson either did not research her record or did not care about her liberal activism.

In her eight years as a Judge for the U.S. District Court in D.C., Jackson’s decisions were often supportive of Democratic Party politicians or liberal causes. For example, in 2015, she ruled that a Hillary Clinton aide, Philipe Reines, was justified in using a personal email account for work-related activities.

Often, her partisan decisions were overruled by the liberal U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. In 2019, Jackson ruled that the Trump administration infringed upon the rights of federal employees to collective bargaining. The appellate court unanimously ruled against Jackson, noting that she did not have jurisdiction in the case.

In another instance in 2019, the D.C. Circuit overruled Jackson in a case involving a decision by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to expand the definition of non-citizens. The higher court ruled that Jackson could not rescind this order because the Administrative Procedure Act gave the DHS the required authority to make the decision.

The D.C. Circuit also overruled Jackson’s decision that compelled former White House Counsel Don McGhan to testify before the House Judiciary Committee, which was investigating “meddling” in the 2016 presidential election. In her decision in the case, Jackson used “political” language to denounce President Donald Trump. She wrote that “presidents are not kings.”

Weak-kneed Senate Republicans should take Jackson’s comments to heart. Democrat Presidents are “not kings.” Unfortunately, Senate Republicans have a long history of giving easy treatment to Supreme Court Judges nominated by Democratic Party Presidents. For example, neither of President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominations, Justices Elena Kagan, nor Sonia Sotomayor, were subjected to tough questioning or a grueling Senate confirmation process.

In contrast, Republican Supreme Court nominations are often forced to undergo an intense and unfair nomination process. One of the most respected judges in American history, Robert Bork, was rejected by the U.S. Senate after his outstanding record was intentionally misconstrued by Democrats, including Joe Biden, who served as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Biden and his Democratic Party colleagues also delivered a “high-tech lynching” to Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. Fortunately, this outstanding nominee was eventually confirmed by a very narrow margin.

Senate Democrats gave the worst treatment to Trump Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. In his confirmation process, Democrats participated in a disgusting attempt to destroy his reputation by highlighting disputed allegations of inappropriate behavior during his college years. The Senate eventually approved Kavanaugh by an extremely close vote, but only after he was brought to tears and his reputation was shattered.

Republicans should not participate in the same underhanded tactics as the Democrats in the Jackson nomination process. However, they should seriously examine her pathetic record and her liberal activism.

Biden’s selection and the process he used should be vigorously challenged by every Republican in the U.S. Senate. Unfortunately, if history is any guide, many moderate Senate Republicans may refrain from criticizing Jackson due to her gender and race. However, if that is the case, such easy treatment is the epitome of racism. She should be held to the same exacting standards and the same questioning as every other Supreme Court nominee.

Based on her record and not the “politics of personal destruction,” every Senate Republican should easily reject Jackson. Along with her history of progressive activism and her record of being overturned by higher courts, Jackson has only served on the D.C. Court of Appeals for a mere eight months, which indicates that she does not have adequate judicial experience for the Supreme Court.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) will “fight this politicized appointment every step of the way” according to Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. Let us hope Senate Republicans display the same fighting spirit during the confirmation process.

The Russians have already Lost the War

The Russians may yet conquer Ukraine. But Ukrainians have shown in the past few days that they will not let them hold it.

Now, one week into the war, it seems increasingly likely that Vladimir Putin is heading towards a historic defeat. He may win all the battles but still lose the war. Putin’s dream of rebuilding the Russian empire has always rested on the lie that Ukraine isn’t a real nation, that Ukrainians aren’t a real people, and that the inhabitants of Kyiv, Kharkiv and Lviv yearn for Moscow’s rule. That’s a complete lie – Ukraine is a nation with more than a thousand years of history, and Kyiv was already a major metropolis when Moscow was not even a village. But the Russian despot has told his lie so many times that he apparently believes it himself.

When planning his invasion of Ukraine, Putin could count on many known facts. He knew that militarily Russia dwarfs Ukraine. He knew that Nato would not send troops to help Ukraine. He knew that European dependence on Russian oil and gas would make countries like Germany hesitate about imposing stiff sanctions. Based on these known facts, his plan was to hit Ukraine hard and fast, decapitate its government, establish a puppet regime in Kyiv, and ride out the western sanctions.

But there was one big unknown about this plan. As the Americans learned in Iraq and the Soviets learned in Afghanistan, it is much easier to conquer a country than to hold it. Putin knew he had the power to conquer Ukraine. But would the Ukrainian people just accept Moscow’s puppet regime? Putin gambled that they would. After all, as he repeatedly explained to anyone willing to listen, Ukraine isn’t a real nation, and the Ukrainians aren’t a real people. In 2014, people in Crimea hardly resisted the Russian invaders. Why should 2022 be any different?

With each passing day, it is becoming clearer that Putin’s gamble is failing. The Ukrainian people are resisting with all their heart, winning the admiration of the entire world – and winning the war. Many dark days lie ahead. The Russians may still conquer the whole of Ukraine. But to win the war, the Russians would have to hold Ukraine, and they can do that only if the Ukrainian people let them. This seems increasingly unlikely to happen.

Each Russian tank destroyed and each Russian soldier killed increases the Ukrainians’ courage to resist. And each Ukrainian killed deepens the Ukrainians’ hatred of the invaders. Hatred is the ugliest of emotions. But for oppressed nations, hatred is a hidden treasure. Buried deep in the heart, it can sustain resistance for generations. To reestablish the Russian empire, Putin needs a relatively bloodless victory that will lead to a relatively hateless occupation. By spilling more and more Ukrainian blood, Putin is making sure his dream will never be realised. It won’t be Mikhail Gorbachev’s name written on the death certificate of the Russian empire: it will be Putin’s. Gorbachev left Russians and Ukrainians feeling like siblings; Putin has turned them into enemies, and has ensured that the Ukrainian nation will henceforth define itself in opposition to Russia.

Nations are ultimately built on stories. Each passing day adds more stories that Ukrainians will tell not only in the dark days ahead, but in the decades and generations to come. The president who refused to flee the capital, telling the US that he needs ammunition, not a ride; the soldiers from Snake Island who told a Russian warship to “go fuck yourself”; the civilians who tried to stop Russian tanks by sitting in their path. This is the stuff nations are built from. In the long run, these stories count for more than tanks.

The Russian despot should know this as well as anyone. As a child, he grew up on a diet of stories about German atrocities and Russian bravery in the siege of Leningrad. He is now producing similar stories, but casting himself in the role of Hitler.

The stories of Ukrainian bravery give resolve not only to the Ukrainians, but to the whole world. They give courage to the governments of European nations, to the US administration, and even to the oppressed citizens of Russia. If Ukrainians dare to stop a tank with their bare hands, the German government can dare to supply them with some anti-tank missiles, the US government can dare to cut Russia off Swift, and Russian citizens can dare to demonstrate their opposition to this senseless war.

We can all be inspired to dare to do something, whether it is make a donation, welcome refugees, or help with the struggle online. The war in Ukraine will shape the future of the entire world. If tyranny and aggression are allowed to win, we will all suffer the consequences. There is no point to remain just observers. It’s time to stand up and be counted.

Unfortunately, this war is likely to be long-lasting. Taking different forms, it may well continue for years. But the most important issue has already been decided. The last few days have proved to the entire world that Ukraine is a very real nation, that Ukrainians are a very real people, and that they definitely don’t want to live under a new Russian empire. The main question left open is how long it will take for this message to penetrate the Kremlin’s thick walls.

With the Scamdemic Winding Down, will Things get “back to normal?”

COVID is winding down — at least for now. The precedent has been set for lockdowns, mask mandates, vax mandates and all the rest. You can be sure those (and additional) tactics will be used again and again, the next time we have a flu season, and the next time the tyrants (all of them still in power) feel like it.

Yet for COVID to wind down at all, something else must be in the works.

Tyrants don’t want to relinquish their power. They have something more in mind.

It might have to do with Russia; it might have to do with the upcoming Congressional elections. But you can be certain: They have something in mind.

This is not a “conspiracy theory.” It’s the nature of human psychology. Most people don’t want to control others, at least not on the scale that sociopaths and narcissists do. Our corporate and political worlds (now one and the same) are dominated by sociopaths and narcissists. It’s a marvelous time to be them. Throughout 2020 and 2021, they got away with things that would have been unbelievable as recently as 2019.

Given the near-total lack of any principled opposition, they have an unblinking green light to go further. My bet is on the green agenda. Manipulating world events (angering Putin, curbing oil drilling in America) to raise gas prices is well underway. That will force people (they think) to adopt otherwise unsustainable, uneconomical “green” energy. Of course, we won’t adopt green energy until or unless it’s affordable and it works, which it presently isn’t and likely will never be. So, by raising gas and energy prices, all they’ll do is impoverish the middle class and leave the 1 percent politically connected elites in charge of everything (including what you say, think, write and do in daily life). Fun! But that’s what happens when the great majority will not fight back or resist as America’s founding colonists did.

Probably a third of Americans — that truly sick, twisted third who actually think Biden is doing a great job and we’re on the right track — actively encourage more tyranny. They want to be controlled, and they want dictators to control others because they are sick and watching others suffer makes sick, evil people feel good.

Brace yourself. Granted, I’m asking you to brace yourself for what you do not know — and cannot know. But I guarantee with 100 percent certainty: There is no “back to normal.” Thinking we can get back to normal would be like thinking — if Hitler and the Nazis had WON World War II — “now that the shooting’s over, we’ll be just as we were before.” No. If we had unseated, defeated, prosecuted and jailed the criminals (Fauci, Biden, governors, mayors, school boards) who did this to us, it would be a different story. But they haven’t been held accountable and it looks like they never will be. So they’re on to their next obscenity.

It won’t be pretty, because life under tyranny never is. But unless or until you find the will and the courage to fight back — REALLY fight back — then it’s only going to get worse.

U.S.—the Inflamer

It is important that you understand that according to news reports the US government and its British puppet are sanctioning the persons of Putin and Lavrov as I write. Putin has already said that any such insult will result in the break of diplomatic relations. Either the governments of the US and UK are intentionally driving the situation to a wider conflict or they are too stupid to be in office. Historically, a break in diplomatic relations is a step towards war.

The sanction is a gratuitous insult as Putin has no assets abroad to be frozen, and I very much doubt Lavrov does either.

Clearly, Washington is doing everything possible to inflame the situation, not reduce the tensions. All the trouble can end now by the West supporting the demilitarization of Ukraine.

Instead, a crazed, insane, psychopathic US government is pushing the world to nuclear war. Dumbshit conservative Republicans and dumbshit liberal Democrats are united in inflaming a dangerous situation. The world has never seen such irresponsibility.

Insouciant Americans have failed to pay attention for so long that, if truth be told, the situation is out of control. There is zero intelligence in Washington. In its place is a blind Russophobia. There are no objective Russian experts in the US to encourage a sane foreign policy. Objective analysis is regarded as Russian propaganda and ignored. Everything that Washington has done leads to conflict with Russia. The mix of a total lack of objectivity with nuclear weapons is disaster’s recipe.

The Vaccine—People are Catching on

“We can’t trust a vaccine pushed by President Trump.” Then at 12:01 on January 20, 2021, when “President Biden” was installed — that changed in an instant. Not only was the “vaccine” wholesome, trustworthy, and medically safe. It was mandatory.

That’s life in the Communist version of America. Enjoy!

Don’t ever Stop Being Curious

Sometimes it’s hard to imagine who’s on the other end of this computer keyboard. During the time I’ve been writing for the Delaware Wave (18 years this June, to be exact) it’s always gratifying to receive the numerous emails and calls from you, the readers. Many of you start with something like, “You don’t have to call me back, but….” I wish I could return all those calls and emails just to say “Thanks” for taking the time to comment on the latest topic.

Not all the comments are positive, either. And that’s a good thing. As a psychotherapist, my aim is to challenge people to think — whether it’s in the quiet of my office or in the public forum of this newspaper. There’s no rule that says everybody has to agree with me. (I wouldn’t be doing my job if they did.) In fact, many of your reactions, both negative and positive, often end up inspiring new topics for this page. So, as the late Dean Martin used to say, “Keep those cards and letters coming in!”

The subjects that generate the most questions are those that deal with issues such as relationships, dysfunctional behavior, family interactions and the like. People are always curious to know more about these things. Curiosity is an important aspect of life. It is through the desire to learn something that life promotes itself and gathers resources more effectively. No curiosity, no life. Period.

Though curiosity began as a basic tool for everyday survival, many of the comforts we enjoy today, not to mention the conditions under which we live, are a direct result of the inquisitive nature of entrepreneurs and innovators like Christopher Columbus, Ferdinand Magellan, Sir Francis Drake, Benjamin Franklin, John D. Rockefeller, Steve Wynn, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford … the list goes on and on.

Many species exhibit curiosity, primarily driven by the need to eat and to avoid being eaten. Our uniquely human curiosity gives rise to the qualities of fantasy and imagination, where abstract thinking can allow imagination to “leak” into the realm of reality. Our perception of what’s around us can be altered by our thoughts and fantasies. A prime example is the comment, “He only hears what he wants to hear.” Taken to its ultimate conclusion, this conflict between reality and feelings can lead to psychosis, where a person loses the ability to distinguish between what is imagined and what is real.

Our imagination can bring us enjoyment and pleasure. But the lack of outside limitations can also cause pain and unhappiness. People whose curiosity and imaginations are particularly vivid can suffer from imagined threats and dangers. Psychosomatic illnesses can be manifestations of imaginary perils.

So the possibilities arising from the wonders of our imagining minds are virtually limitless. They can range from happy daydreams about things that will probably never happen, all the way to full-blown psychotic disorders. They can also inspire inventions, business ideas and discoveries to advance the human condition. Curiosity, imagination and fantasy, tempered with reality and objectivity, can be powerful tools for making our time on earth as productive and enjoyable as it can be.

For humans, curiosity is a constant search for answers. In spite of the psychological pitfalls that may lurk in the shadowy outskirts of reality, the positive benefits of applying our imaginations to our everyday lives far outweigh the negatives.

So I encourage you to keep calling and emailing if something you read here arouses your curiosity. Not only is it a healthy exercise in thinking, but it also helps me come up with new and (hopefully) interesting column topics in my weekly endeavor to prove, once and for all, that Life is, indeed, a Beach.
