Rule by Fiat: When Government does What it Wants

“We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.” — Ayn Rand

Rule by brute force.

That’s about as good a description as you’ll find for the sorry state of our nation.

SWAT teams crashing through doors. Militarized police shooting unarmed citizens. Traffic cops tasering old men and pregnant women for not complying fast enough with an order. Resource officers shackling children for acting like children. Homeowners finding their homes under siege by police out to confiscate lawfully-owned guns. Drivers having their cash seized under the pretext that they might have done something wrong.

The list of abuses being perpetrated against the American people by their government is growing rapidly.

We are approaching critical mass.

The groundwork has been laid for a new kind of government where it won’t matter if you’re innocent or guilty, whether you’re a threat to the nation, or even if you’re a citizen. What will matter is what the government—or whoever happens to be calling the shots at the time—thinks. And if the powers-that-be think you’re a threat to the nation and should be locked up, then you’ll be locked up with no access to the protections our Constitution provides.

In effect, you will disappear.

Our freedoms are already being made to disappear.

We have seen this come to pass under past presidents with their use of executive orders, decrees, memorandums, proclamations, national security directives and legislative signing statements.

President Biden’s long list of executive orders, executive actions, proclamations and directives is just more of the same: rule by fiat.

Now the Biden Administration is setting its sights on gun control.

Mark my words: gun control legislation, especially in the form of red flag gun laws, which allow the police to remove guns from people “suspected” of being threats, will become yet another means by which to subvert the Constitution and sabotage the rights of the people.

These laws, growing in popularity as a legislative means by which to seize guns from individuals viewed as a danger to themselves or others, are yet another Trojan Horse, a stealth maneuver by the police state to gain greater power over an unsuspecting and largely gullible populace.

Nineteen states and Washington DC have red flag laws on their books.

That number is growing.

As The Washington Post reports, these laws “allow a family member, roommate, beau, law enforcement officer or any type of medical professional to file a petition [with a court] asking that a person’s home be temporarily cleared of firearms. It doesn’t require a mental-health diagnosis or an arrest.

In the midst of what feels like an epidemic of mass shootings (the statistics suggest otherwise), these gun confiscation laws—extreme risk protection order (ERPO) laws—may appease the fears of those who believe that fewer guns in the hands of the general populace will make our society safer.

Of course, it doesn’t always work that way.

Anything—knives, vehicles, planes, pressure cookers—can become a weapon when wielded with deadly intentions.

With these red flag gun laws, the stated intention is to disarm individuals who are potential threats… to “stop dangerous people before they act.”

While in theory it appears perfectly reasonable to want to disarm individuals who are clearly suicidal and/or pose an “immediate danger” to themselves or others, where the problem arises is when you put the power to determine who is a potential danger in the hands of government agencies, the courts and the police.

We’ve been down this road before.

Remember, this is the same government that uses the words “anti-government,” “extremist” and “terrorist” interchangeably.

This is the same government whose agents are spinning a sticky spider-web of threat assessments, behavioral sensing warnings, flagged “words,” and “suspicious” activity reports using automated eyes and ears, social media, behavior sensing software, and citizen spies to identify potential threats.

This is the same government that keeps re-upping the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which allows the military to detain American citizens with no access to friends, family or the courts if the government believes them to be a threat.

This is the same government that has a growing list—shared with fusion centers and law enforcement agencies—of ideologies, behaviors, affiliations and other characteristics that could flag someone as suspicious and result in their being labeled potential enemies of the state.

For instance, if you believe in and exercise your rights under the Constitution (namely, your right to speak freely, worship freely, associate with like-minded individuals who share your political views, criticize the government, own a weapon, demand a warrant before being questioned or searched, or any other activity viewed as potentially anti-government, racist, bigoted, anarchic or sovereign), you could be at the top of the government’s terrorism watch list.

Moreover, as a New York Times editorial warns, you may be an anti-government extremist (a.k.a. domestic terrorist) in the eyes of the police if you are afraid that the government is plotting to confiscate your firearms, if you believe the economy is about to collapse and the government will soon declare martial law, or if you display an unusual number of political and/or ideological bumper stickers on your car.

Let that sink in a moment.

Now consider the ramifications of giving police that kind of authority: to preemptively raid homes in order to neutralize a potential threat.

It’s a powder keg waiting for a lit match.

Under these red flag laws, what happened to Duncan Lemp—who was gunned down in his bedroom during an early morning, no-knock SWAT team raid on his family’s home—could very well happen to more people.

At 4:30 a.m. on March 12, 2020, in the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic that had most of the country under a partial lockdown and sheltering at home, a masked SWAT team—deployed to execute a “high risk” search warrant for unauthorized firearms—stormed the suburban house where 21-year-old Duncan, a software engineer and Second Amendment advocate, lived with his parents and 19-year-old brother.

The entire household, including Lemp and his girlfriend, was reportedly asleep when the SWAT team directed flash bang grenades and gunfire through Lemp’s bedroom window.

Lemp was killed and his girlfriend injured.

No one in the house that morning, including Lemp, had a criminal record.

No one in the house that morning, including Lemp, was considered an “imminent threat” to law enforcement or the public, at least not according to the search warrant.

So what was so urgent that militarized police felt compelled to employ battlefield tactics in the pre-dawn hours of a day when most people are asleep in bed, not to mention stuck at home as part of a nationwide lockdown?

According to police, they were tipped off that Lemp was in possession of “firearms.”

Thus, rather than approaching the house by the front door at a reasonable hour in order to investigate this complaint—which is what the Fourth Amendment requires—police instead strapped on their guns, loaded up their flash bang grenades and acted like battle-crazed warriors.

This is the blowback from all that military weaponry flowing to domestic police departments.

This is what happens when you use SWAT teams to carry out routine search warrants.

This is what happens when you adopt red flag gun laws, which Maryland did in 2018, painting anyone who might be in possession of a gun—legal or otherwise—as a threat that must be neutralized.

Therein lies the danger of these red flag laws, specifically, and pre-crime laws such as these generally where the burden of proof is reversed and you are guilty before you are given any chance to prove you are innocent.

Red flag gun laws merely push us that much closer towards a suspect society where everyone is potentially guilty of some crime or another and must be preemptively rendered harmless.

Where many Americans go wrong is in naively assuming that you have to be doing something illegal or harmful in order to be flagged and targeted for some form of intervention or detention.

In fact, U.S. police agencies have been working to identify and manage potential extremist “threats,” violent or otherwise, before they can become actual threats for some time now.

All you need to do these days to end up on a government watch list or be subjected to heightened scrutiny is use certain trigger words (like cloud, pork and pirates), surf the internet, communicate using a cell phone, limp or stutterdrive a car, stay at a hotel, attend a political rally, express yourself on social mediaappear mentally ill, serve in the militarydisagree with a law enforcement officialcall in sick to work, purchase materials at a hardware store, take flying or boating lessons, appear suspicious, appear confused or nervous, fidget or whistle or smell bad, be seen in public waving a toy gun or anything remotely resembling a gun (such as a water nozzle or a remote control or a walking cane), stare at a police officer, question government authority, appear to be pro-gun or pro-freedom, or generally live in the United States.

Be warned: once you get on such a government watch list—whether it’s a terrorist watch list, a mental health watch list, a dissident watch list, or a red flag gun watch list—there’s no clear-cut way to get off, whether or not you should actually be on there.

You will be tracked wherever you go.

You will be flagged as a potential threat and dealt with accordingly.

This is pre-crime on an ideological scale and it’s been a long time coming.

The government has been building its pre-crime, surveillance network in concert with fusion centers (of which there are 78 nationwide, with partners in the private sector and globally), data collection agencies, behavioral scientists, corporations, social media, and community organizers and by relying on cutting-edge technology for surveillance, facial recognition, predictive policing, biometrics, and behavioral epigenetics (in which life experiences alter one’s genetic makeup).

To that noxious mix, add in a proposal introduced under the Trump Administration and being considered by Biden for a new government agency HARPA (a healthcare counterpart to the Pentagon’s research and development arm DARPA) that will take the lead in identifying and targeting “signs” of mental illness or violent inclinations among the populace by using artificial intelligence to collect data from Apple Watches, Fitbits, Amazon Echo and Google Home.

It’s the American police state’s take on the dystopian terrors foreshadowed by George Orwell, Aldous Huxley and Phillip K. Dick all rolled up into one oppressive pre-crime and pre-thought crime package.

If you’re not scared yet, you should be.

Connect the dots.

Start with the powers amassed by the government under the USA Patriot Act, note the government’s ever-broadening definition of what it considers to be an “extremist,” then add in the government’s detention powers under NDAA, the National Security Agency’s far-reaching surveillance networks, and fusion centers that collect and share surveillance data between local, state and federal police agencies.

To that, add tens of thousands of armed, surveillance drones that will soon blanket American skies, facial recognition technology that will identify and track you wherever you go and whatever you do. And then to complete the picture, toss in the real-time crime centers being deployed in cities across the country, which will be attempting to “predict” crimes and identify criminals before they happen based on widespread surveillance, complex mathematical algorithms and prognostication programs.

Hopefully you’re starting to understand how easy we’ve made it for the government to identify, label, target, defuse and detain anyone it views as a potential threat for a variety of reasons that run the gamut from mental illness to having a military background to challenging its authority to just being on the government’s list of persona non grata. Finally, add in the local police agencies and SWAT teams that are being “gifted” military-grade weaponry and equipment designed for the battlefield and trained in the tactics of war.

It all adds up to a terrifying package of brute force coupled with invasive technology and totalitarian tactics.

This brings me back to those red flag gun laws.

In the short term, these gun confiscation laws may serve to temporarily delay or discourage those wishing to inflict violence on others, but it will not resolve whatever madness or hate or instability therein that causes someone to pull a trigger or launch a bomb or unleash violence on another.

Indeed, those same individuals sick enough to walk into an elementary school or a movie theater and open fire using a gun can and do wreak just as much havoc with homemade bombs made out of pressure cookers and a handful of knives.

Nor will these laws save us from government-instigated and directed violence at the hands of the militarized police state or the blowback from the war-drenched, violence-imbued, profit-driven military industrial complex, both of which remain largely overlooked and underestimated pieces of the discussion on gun violence in America.

As I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, in the long term, all these gun confiscation laws will do is ensure that when the police state finally cracks down, “we the people” are defenseless in the face of the government’s arsenal of weapons.

No matter how well-meaning the politicians make these encroachments on our rights appear, in the right (or wrong) hands, benevolent plans can easily be put to malevolent purposes. In this way, even the most well-intentioned government law or program can be—and has been—perverted, corrupted and used to advance illegitimate purposes once profit and power are added to the equation.

The war on terror, the war on drugs, the war on illegal immigration, asset forfeiture schemes, road safety schemes, school safety schemes, eminent domain: all of these programs started out as legitimate responses to pressing concerns and have since become weapons of compliance and control in the police state’s hands.

Red flag laws and gun control legislation are no less a threat to our freedoms.

How Are We Supposed to Cope Living Under Tyranny?

Knowing I’m a therapist as well as a patriot, people write and ask me, “How are we supposed to cope?”

My answer:

You still have your First and Second Amendments rights; your two most important rights. Well, not really. They’re being dismantled, as we speak. But they’re not consistently squashed — not yet. So use your First and Second Amendment rights while you still have remnants of them. And even after they’re gone, be prepared to go underground. Be an outlaw. Do what you have to do — within reason, whatever you consider reason — to exercise them. Remember those rights are inalienable. They are natural — God-given, if you wish. The point is: They are not bestowed by man. They are part of your nature, of your entitlement as a human being, even if the twenty-first century savages we have put in charge smirk at them.

Practically, this means speaking your mind whenever you wish. Don’t be afraid of everything and everyone. Remember that tyrants are afraid. So are your neighbors, family members, cohorts and “friends” who support those tyrants. If someone declares proudly, “I voted for Biden,” I immediately think, “Good grief. What a hollowed out, neurotic, psychologically trashed human being this must be.” They’re afraid because it’s not a state of serenity and mental health that leads one to support tyrants. Only irrational fear could have done that. The people whom you dread offending are not mentally balanced. They can’t be. If they were, they wouldn’t support what’s going on. At least see them for what they are; don’t make them out stronger than they could ever be.

As for the Second Amendment, buy the weapons and ammunition that you believe you need to protect yourself. Do it while it’s still legal. At some point, it will all be illegal. That’s the open purpose of what they’re doing. Again, they’re scared. They have to do this decisively but in an incremental way. They’re afraid of what gun owners will do, if triggered. There’s fear and loathing on both sides here. Don’t worry about breaking the law. Simply worry about not being found out. There’s no moral justification for what’s going on. Morality trumps the law. If you go underground or start manipulating or deceiving in order to get past an immoral, unjust government — that’s a moral triumph, not a shame. I’m not suggesting you must become a martyr or a crusader for any particular cause — even a great cause, such as the cause of liberty. After all — let’s be honest — we have lost the war. The war is really over. There are no elections or candidates on the horizon who can save us. We’re past that point, sadly. Everything going on politically involves a complete dismantling of the remaining freedoms we had enjoyed, at least through 2019.

Beyond these two things — protect and take your First and Second Amendment rights underground — my main advice is: live your life, as best you can. Without politics. I don’t know what the future holds for people, but the America we once knew is now largely a myth. There may be secession in parts of the country, and I’d love to see secession within states, too — counties breaking off from California and New York, for example. But none of that will come without a price. And if we continue to do nothing, that exacts a heavy price too. That’s just where we are. There will be no easy choices.

In some sense, life must go on. Find love, family, romance, intrigue, purpose and self-esteem wherever you can, and as much as you can. Cherish the music you love and the books that embody your highest, most authentic self. Remember art. Remember the classics. Figure out how to secure these in times ahead. You’re no longer living in a free country. Don’t hold your entire life hostage while waiting for a free country to resume. Sadly, most human beings for 99 percent of human history have NOT lived under freedom and liberty. We were the last of a rare few generations who knew what freedom was really like. I will always remember the cities, the airports, the grocery stores, the amusement parks, the openness of towns, the country, suburbs, the public arenas, the restaurants, the shopping malls — none of those things, in my view, will be like they were, not again. COVID was merely the excuse — the first of many — to implement what we now have: a society of conformity, intolerance and obedience. When they call for a “new normal”, these tyrants, they mean it — and they perceive this as a good thing. The sickos who applaud it clearly hated themselves and their lives all along. Those sickos are now in charge. The dystopians — the “Karens” — were in our midst all along, and now they leer in the triumph of their puny, meaningless souls.

Try to preserve the idea and the reality of beautiful freedom for younger people important to you. Keep the images, the feelings of freedom, alive. Those images will remain alive in numerous books, movies and videos, things which will be hard to eliminate. Some of these young people, no doubt, will want to lead the charge for some kind of a restoration of human liberty. That’s probably the best hope.

Two Americas: Texas/Florida vs. New York/California

We live in two Americas. One is the land of Communism; the other is the land of freedom.

In the land of freedom, like Texas and Florida, mask mandates and lockdowns are lifted. Whatever you think of these mandates, they really were intended to be temporary.

In other states, it’s different. In other states, they keep moving the goalposts. “Well, we can’t get rid of lockdowns now. There could be another strain coming. And then there’s the problem of climate change and racism. We have to keep the controls in place.” And expand the controls, of course.

Under Communism, the more the controls on liberty don’t do what they’re advertised to do, the more we’re told: “They didn’t go far enough. We need to double and triple down.”

Under freedom, controls and liberty are viewed as unfortunate, temporary and perhaps — perish the thought — even big, unconstitutional mistakes from the get-go.

On the one hand, it’s good to see there’s still a battle. It’s good to see that we have states like Texas, Florida, Wyoming, South Dakota, South Carolina and a few others. But the bulk of America’s population resides in the states with the biggest and (up until now) most influential cities: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago. Those states are hard, hard Communist. And they’re moving more to the left. Imagine a place where Andrew Cuomo is considered too moderate for the hard left now dominating the entire Democratic Party nationally — and you’ll be thinking of New York. He’s being ousted to pave the way for a true-blue socialist. New York will be as gone as Russia in 1917.

Connecticut is an interesting exception, and could spell trouble ahead for the forces of leftism. That hard blue state is lifting its controls, at least partially. It’s not Texas. But for a blue state to be doing this at all is the opposite of, “We have to double and triple down.” Fauci and Biden (when he’s lucid) are freaking out, screaming about the second wave that will soon be coming. They don’t wish to lose control. They couldn’t care less about anyone’s health. Biden is demented and Fauci has no such excuse; he’s living in a cocoon inside the Beltway. All he cares about is that the vapid hosts on CNN and MSNBC like him.

The battle for freedom and liberty will never end. In a way, we should have always known that. America’s founders understood it. Nonetheless, it’s sad to see it take such a dramatic and all-encompassing turn. People who have lost their freedom in most of the blue states will literally have to fight to gain it back. The Bill of Rights means nothing to their governors and their President — excuse me, their occupation leader. And prepare for Kamala Harris. She’s coming. She’s got the ambitions of a Hitler and a Stalin … with only a third of the brain and none of the finesse.

It’s not going to be pretty. But then again, the never-ending human quest for freedom never was.

What Drives the Global Elite on Their Maniacal Mission

When you consider what has happened in the United States in the last nine months, incredibly, it doesn’t even seem like our own nation anymore. People rioting in the streets during the summer are described by the lamestream media as “peaceful protesters.” District Attorneys let hardened criminals out of jail. Grammar schools indoctrinate our children, teaching them to hate America.

The Lunatics are Running the Asylum

Governors mandate lockdowns of their citizens while flagrantly breaking their own rules. A presidential administration, run by who knows who, is undermining the “1776 Project” — which was designed to offer a balanced perspective on American history — while supporting the misdirected “1619 Project,” which was launched by The New York Times and claims that the real founding of the U.S. started when slaves were first shipped across the Atlantic.

On and on it goes: Thousands of strange assertions, end runs around the law, and media flights of complete fantasy. The creepy, illegal, unpatriotic, absurd positions of the Left are unfolding at an increasing pace. Whether it’s defacing property, pulling down statues – even of Gandhi, Grant, and Lincoln – desecrating church symbols, renaming schools, defaming Dr. Seuss, or re-assigning the sex of a plastic toy potato, the Left knows no bounds.

Those in a position to call them out, our elected representatives, as well as opinion makers, too often say little or nothing.

The March to Madness

Exactly what sort of madness leading up to this March is occurring? Is there a common denominator to all of the heartless and heart-sickening behaviors that we’ve witnessed for months on end now, and realistically, on a lesser level, for years? Actually, the answer is yes.

Every activity of the Left, from tiny to gargantuan and in one form or another, is designed to diminish the strength, status, and sovereignty of the U.S. Whether it’s seeking to overrun the country with illegal immigrants, pack the Supreme Court, smear Supreme Court nominees, besmirch local officials, cancel the careers of people who’ve made one errant statement, even if that statement was 30 years ago, all such activities have a common denominator. The common denominator is to vanquish the opposition thoroughly, vanquish the U.S. Constitution, ignore due process, overturn the right of habeas corpus, contort “one person one vote,” and much, much more so that as a nation we are left in tatters.

‘We Know What is Best’

As the U.S. declines, the global elite believe that they move closer and closer to their goal of having a one-world government. Headed by global elites – Leftist multi-million dollar career politicians and Leftist billionaires, who pull the strings around the world – such a government supposedly will produce the utopian society the Left fervently desires.

Utopias don’t exist, however, could not work if they did, and would end up enslaving their citizens. Read Utopia by Sir Thomas More, Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes, The Republic by Plato, or any other treatise on supposedly ideal societies. You will quickly understand that the elite invariably will regard the citizenry with disdain, nothing more than serfs – worker drones – who are to act according to how they are manipulated and who will do exactly what they are told.

By any measure, the global elite’s decades-long quest for a one-world government is exceedingly far from American ideals. Indeed, it so distant from what our Constitution guarantees and so far from the spirit of the Declaration of Independence that it is beyond chilling.

A Chilling Vision

If America falls, the whole world falls, except for the Chinese Communists. They will control at least half of the globe, and their form of government is going to be worse than what the global elites have in mind. The Chinese are already experimenting with creating biologically enhanced “super soldiers,” more powerful than the average soldier.

They already have imprisoned thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people in slave labor camps. They already have surveillance cameras in their larger cities to a degree that you cannot imagine. In time, it might be shown that they intentionally released the Wuhan virus on the world. Who can say right now?

The global elites and the Chinese Communists must be contained and stopped. It will be a monumental task, but we stopped Hitler and Mussolini, we overcame the monolithic Soviet Union, and we can prevail now as well. It will require Gen Xers and Millennials to break away from the Left’s cultural stranglehold. And as they do, they will find that at least 75 million Trump voters will be on their side.

The radical left is bent on silencing us patriots – or worse!

With the fraudulent election of the Chicom bought-and-paid-for criminal and Manchurian candidate Joe Biden, and his evil sidekick, Kamala Harris, as the alleged 46th president and vice president of the United States, I predicted that there would be a stepped up inquisition, if not purge, by the left of any opposition to its mission to totally enslave We the People in a socialist and increasingly communist godless state.

Sure enough, following the events of two weeks ago last Wednesday at the Capitol, following a peaceful speech by then-President Donald Trump, the FBI, an integral part and weapon of the now Biden-Harris-controlled Department of Justice, has been summoned to round up and prosecute ordinary citizens who were there that day, most of whom were obviously allowed by Capitol police to enter the building, which incidentally belongs to the citizenry in any event.

Indeed, these Americans, who had had of enough the rank and cancerous criminality in all three branches of our so-called government, had risen up and delivered a warning shot across the bow of the clowns, court jesters and criminals who pass themselves off as our elected representatives. Not coincidentally, these representatives in Congress were in the process of just rubber-stamping the fraud that resulted in the “election” of Biden and Harris, thus turning over control of all three branches of government to socialists, communists and atheists.

While any lucid American has by now come to understand that our system of justice is irreparably compromised and corrupt, this was the crowning blow to anyone in his or her right mind who had at one time believed that the government represents the We the People. That is the story of the so-called Capitol riot, which was a reaction to years of deceit and tyranny by the elite in our national and state capitals.

Coupled with the Gestapo tactics of the now Biden-Harris-controlled FBI and Justice Department, who have been roaming the countryside threatening ordinary Americans who attended the Trump rally with arrest if they did not turn over their cellphones in an attempt to “Trump-up” crimes for which they could be prosecuted, has been a full-court press generally to kill all freedoms of not just free speech, but any form of dissent, protest and opposition.

As occurred in the years leading up to World War II in soon to be Nazi Germany and thereafter until VE Day, industrialists, professors at universities, scientists, lawyers and bar associations, doctors and medical associations, sports leagues, the mainstream and cable news media, and other so-called intelligentsia, seeing that the demise of Donald Trump was inevitable, decided to throw in their lot with those they perceived would turn out to be the winners. And, many of these forces did not need to be coerced or convinced to join those on the left who are bent on destroying the vision and conception of our Founding Fathers, embodied in our Declaration of Independence and later Bill of Rights, as they were the ideological soul mates of the these “Bolsheviks” in the first place. As just one example, I am talking about not just the Big Tech social media tycoons, but from my own personal experience others such as the District of Columbia and New York Bars.

If our nation’s sinking ship of state is to be righted, the logical vehicle would be those lawyers, such as myself – however few – who are willing to try to use whatever is left of our compromised and corrupt legal system to challenge the radical left, which now has a total hold on our government institutions. To eliminate this avenue of dissent and opposition, the disciplinary apparati of the District of Columbia and New York Bars – the two most leftist bastions of tyranny professing to regulate the legal profession – have been systematically trying to eliminate conservative activist lawyers from their rolls.

January 6th as Godsend

The January Sixth events in Washington D.C., depicted in the corporate media as Donald Trump’s criminal “incitement to insurrection”, were predictably greeted by Democrats and their media as the worst tragedy to ever befall American democracy, the heinous plot to establish a police state — a coup d’etat, the final desperate act of a deranged tyrant. That might be considered something akin to surface discourse. Framed differently, those events could not have made the Dems happier, for by the time the last demonstrator left the Capitol the political floodgates were opened: total war against an entire nation of seditious Republicans, now demonized as “domestic terrorists”, could finally be adopted as full-fledged strategy. The perfect Dems scenario for gaining unchallenged power had been laid.

Beyond the moment of Capitol disorder the Dems would find, without much difficulty, that most precious of all gifts — a political godsend. Like Pearl Harbor and 9/11, national trauma would give the power elite just what it coveted – in this case the greatest of all opportunities to frame Trump and much of the Republican party as enemies of the state, collectively damned to ideological purgatory. January Sixth, like December Seventh before it, would serve as political code for converting national chaos into its very opposite: relief. The Dems, already beginning to solidify power in the White House, Congress, the media, and Big Tech, could now move toward a scorched-earth policy – war of annihilation.

In his book Cultures of Militarism, historian John Dower describes the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor as “political godsend”, a moment when humiliating military defeat (“day of infamy”) would allow president Franklin Roosevelt to do what he desperately wanted to do but could not in the face of an “isolationist” American public opinion—bring the U.S. into World War II. Pearl Harbor turned out to be a wonderful blessing in disguise for FDR, whose infamous eight-point program effectively provoked the Japanese into attacking the Pacific fleet in Hawaii. In the end, after four difficult years, victory would be heroically wrestled from defeat.

After what was portrayed as a “sneak attack” (military operations were supposed to be advertised in advance?), the New York Herald Tribune could exalt: “Since the clash now appears to have been inevitable, its occurrence brings with it a sense of relief. The air is clearer. Americans can now get down to their task [of waging war] with the old obstacles finally removed, forgotten.” Public opposition to U.S. entry into the war vanished in two hours one early Sunday morning. Democratic politicians, joined by a good many Republicans, were now ready to take military combat to Japan (and then Germany), as the attack had given FDR all the power, not to mention legitimacy, any president could possibly desire. Since 1941 Pearl Harbor has been ideological code for unlimited executive freedom, and Roosevelt energetically took advantage.

In the aftermath of Pearl Harbor, shock turned to resolve, momentary defeat to righteous commitment. Victim status would be transformed into its opposite. Roughly the same dynamic would be repeated in the case of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which gave president George W. Bush “permission” to do what he and the neocons were already hellbent on doing – invading Iraq and “finishing the job” of overthrowing Saddam Hussein. In both cases – Pearl Harbor and 9/11 – national humiliation was mobilized to “reset” U.S. foreign policy.

For the present-day ensemble of Democratic elites – Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, et. al. – January Sixth at the Capitol could not have been more timely, more opportune. Truly another godsend. A jolt to the system, however feeble, partial, and ill-fated, would justify sustained authoritarian force across the public landscape. Seen as vile agents of treachery, Republicans would be thrown onto the defensive, immobilized. Pelosi, ready as ever for vengeful action, would say: “The situation of this unhinged president could not be more dangerous. He chose to be an insurrectionist.” Trump’s behavior (in riling up demonstrators) would demand immediate and harsh retribution. Other Dems quickly followed Pelosi’s lead, amplified by a monolithically frenzied media. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, shrill as ever and clearly speaking for the “progressive” squad, said: “I do believe we should exercise every avenue possible because the president has shown that his mental status and his actions are wildly eroding at a rapid pace.” Trump represents a “clear and present danger to our democracy”, she blustered, and must be removed from office as soon as possible.

Not to be overshadowed, Senator Chuck Schumer, reprising “Pearl Harbor” no less, would state: “I have never lived through or even imagined an experience like the one we have just witnessed in this Capitol. President Franklin Roosevelt set aside December 7, 1941 as a day that will live in infamy. Unfortunately, we can now add January 6, 2021 to that very short list of dates in American history that will live forever in infamy.” Oblivious to months of fire bombings, lootings, beatings, and killings across the streets and buildings of dozens of American cities (criminality that persists to this day) – all encouraged by the Dems — Schumer would add, hypocritically: “The temple of democracy was desecrated, its windows smashed, our offices vandalized.”

The authoritarian, virtually fascistic reaction of the media and political establishment was swift and, well, unhinged: the House would quickly move to impeach the president, again, Trump was permanently banned from Twitter and other social-media outlets, Republicans (even those far removed from the Capitol violence) were facing censorship, blacklisting, job loss, and thoroughly dishonest smears. Within a week the silencing of conservatives across the Internet had reached new heights. The long-cherished Beltway goal to destroy Trump, his family, and associates was in sight: any Trump hope for the presidency in 2024 would be smashed. Hysterical threats of “domestic terrorism” would mean, as always, a drastic Hobbesian response: maximum state power, strengthened ideological controls, the crushing of political opposition.

As Dower noted, the ideological code emanating from “Pearl Harbor” included yet another motif: the familiar stereotype of Asians (at that time) as sneaky, backstabbing, and irrational would be affirmed on December Seventh. Who else could carry out such a dastardly attack? The same code would naturally apply to millions (tens of millions) of deplorable Trump supporters – a motley assemblage of gun-toting racists and neo-Nazis. Didn’t those sanctimonious CNN pundits always warn about the backward white-supremacists seduced by the guile of the Orange Menace? Indeed. The truth was finally illuminated for every Beltway dweller to seize upon and embellish: Trump followers would now have to pay, their collective guilt revealed beyond doubt amidst the ashes of January Sixth.

So when all the enlightened Dems repeat their heartfelt sadness over the fate of the Republic, over Trump’s evil subversion of “our democracy”, it might be time to look more closely beneath the surface – or maybe head for the hills. If there were any bars open in the woke Democratic neighborhoods, that is probably where Pelosi, AOC, Adam Schiff, and other sad victims of the Orange Menace might be found gathering to celebrate, toasting to their unbelievably good fortune. Whether such celebrations might be long-lived, however, would be another matter. Fascistic politics has a tendency to devour its own ruthless protagonists.

Democratic Irrationality

Some social media posts of mine from the last day:

Wow. Massive police protection in D.C. January 20. What happened to Defund the Police??

****************

I guess if all I had to offer America was the despair & tyranny of Communism, I would impeach Trump forever too.

****************

“Vaccine passports” and “immunity certificates” are coming soon to the U.K. and other European countries, according to Breitbart News and other news sources. How’s that for Orwellian terminology? Now that elections are irrelevant and discussion is censored on the Internet, do you think these policies will come to the U.S. as well? If so, and if you don’t agree with these policies, how do you plan to cope with them and resist? Grocery stores and banks in the U.K. are threatening to close bank accounts and forbid store entrance without full compliance. Compliance includes not just wearing masks, but refraining from support of political movements deemed “dangerous” by authorities. So how will you cope, and go underground? Don’t reply here, unless you want to. Most actions and, increasingly, many words are now illegal, thanks to fascist corporations working hand-in-hand with government to enforce “woke”, radical leftist positions. One thing that will never be against the law: THINKING. You may not have much else, but your thoughts will always belong to yourself.

Those Who Lived Under Communism Speak Out

In 1972, one of the most celebrated ballet teams Valery Panov and his wife Galina Ragozina, sought to leave Leningrad for Israel.

After his dismissal from the Kirov Ballet, Panov was jailed for ten days, placed under surveillance and repeatedly refused a visa, despite a 21-day hunger strike. In essence, he became a “living corpse.” His crime — the unquenchable desire to be free from a communist dictatorship.

He was denied any work as a dancer, had to deal with constant harassment, the rejection and treachery by colleagues, imprisonment, threats to break his legs, and even an attempt at poisoning. In 1972, he was imprisoned during President Nixon’s visit to the Soviet Union. He was considered a parasite — the authorities would not let him work, but simultaneously punished him for not working. Fellow dancers would cross the street to avoid him and his wife.

Panov would spend his “days playing tag with the KGB.” But during the nighttime he would write his autobiography titled, To Dance. It was only with the help of an international campaign on their behalf by celebrities, artists, Western statesman and other supporters, that the Panovs were finally able to leave and settle in Israel.

Back then, it was clear that communism was the enemy of all people both in body and soul. In 1985, the 99th American Congress pledged support for Soviet Jews. Newspapers were eager to tell the stories of the dissidents who were confronting the evil of the USSR. Those in the arts inherently understood the danger to their vocational pursuits.

But today these same groups have fallen under the spell of tyranny. The Hollywood crowd has abandoned any pretense for protecting the arts. Thus, “one Hollywood producer told PEN America that suggestions for projects critical of China aroused the fear that ‘you or your company will actively be blacklisted, and they will interfere with your current or future project. So not only will you bear the brunt [of your decision], but also your company, and future companies that you work for. And that’s absolutely in the back of our minds.'”

The sports world has also been compromised by the communists. The “relationship between sport, politics and diplomacy in communist China . . . has been profound. Sport has assisted the acceptance, implementation and endorsement of ideology. What has happened on the sports grounds and arenas of China has clearly demonstrated that sport is vulnerable to political exploitation, since it is one of the most powerful ways of implementing political ideals, ideas and policies. Sport had proved extremely valuable, too, as a diplomatic resource. It has enabled communist China to make approaches to Western opponents through a medium with a non-political image [.]” Hence, sports figures ignore the connection between their endorsement of Nike sneakers and communist China’s slave labor and other atrocities.

But here in the USA, the PGA plans to move the 2022 championship away from Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey golf course as cancel culture is alive and well.

Moreover, one would think that the media would be daily headlining the horrors being dealt upon China’s minority in its far west, its Uighurs. After all, “the detainees, from the province of Xinjiang, are treated to a strict ‘re-education’ program that includes what one escapee described as horrific physical abuse, including forced organ removal, abortions and medical ‘experiments.'”

Yet, the Nazi-like behavior is only bandied about when referring to Trump and his conservative supporters.

In his memoir The Captive Mind, Czeslaw Milosz “grappled with how liberal intellectuals came to collaborate with and work alongside, Poland’s communist party. Milosz stated that: ‘It’s as if we all took a magic pill, became temporarily enchanted and went along with this ridiculous thing.'”

Milosz writes that [i]t’s very difficult, now, to think back into that time, when people had very limited choices. If you chose to oppose the regime, that might mean you couldn’t get medicine for your sick mother, your children couldn’t go to school and you might get kicked out of your apartment. We don’t have to face those choices.”

Oh really? Think again.

Americans across the country are now being fined, detained, and arrested for speaking out against lockdown restrictions, not wearing masks, and daring to operate their businesses. Professors who speak against the inherently racist critical race theory are being forced out. Teachers in Jefferson County, West Virginia who attended the rally in Washington, D.C. are now being threatened with termination.

But Marxist Black Lives Matter violent mobs are given a free pass.

As we enter a new era for America, many of us already attuned to the totalitarian bent of the Biden/Harris administration are acutely aware of what may await us. Thoroughly assisted by social media technology, the new administration will continue to ensure that we will suffer the “imperviousness of the tyranny” that is taking hold in this country.

In his book Madness and Terror, Rafael M. Madalozzo (p. 124) asserts that under Stalin “the goal was manifest: to make clear to everyone the helplessness of the individual vis-à-vis the omnipotent state, from which nothing could escape, not even time itself. The state could control the present, the past, the future, and even one’s thoughts, and everyone was conscious of the fact they could be executed, tortured, or imprisoned for life at any moment [.]”

With increasing surveillance of our lives will we become more like China, where “using a ride-hailing service in Beijing, such as Uber or local Didi Chuxing, won’t be possible without first scanning our health records?

We are, as Chris Farrell writes, “slouching towards the socialist states of America” where the Democratic Party “. . . will pack the courts, including the Supreme Court, with politically friendly judges, so that the judiciary will be an extension of one political party rather than part of a system of checks and balances [.]”

Democrats openly say “they will remove the Electoral College, so that sparsely populated, rural states would be totally outvoted by cities.” In addition, they want to “add more states, such as Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico, to provide it with more senators to create a permanent one-party rule.” And finally, the Democrat leaders assert they will “reverse core parts of our Bill of Rights so we could be jailed for free speech, or for owning a gun to defend ourselves, as the Minutemen did, against ‘enemies foreign and domestic.'”

After all, Biden promises to “defeat” the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Recently, “Russian dissident Alexei Navalny offered a lengthy denunciation of Twitter’s decision to permanently ban President Trump [.]”

I think that the ban of Donald Trump on Twitter is an unacceptable act of censorship. Don’t tell me he was banned for violating Twitter rules. I get death threats here every day for many years, and Twitter doesn’t ban anyone (not that I ask for it).’

‘Of course, Twitter is a private company but we have seen many examples in Russia and China of such private companies becoming the state’s best friends and the enablers when it comes to censorship.’

In fact, Navalny “warns that authoritarian nations would look at the decision by Twitter and use it to justify similar crackdowns of dissenting voices in their own countries.”

Almost 50 years ago, Valery Panov wanted to

show the Russian people as an enslaved people on their knees. If you raise this mass, it begins to destroy everything. I am convinced the historical mission for the Russian people is a destructive one. You can’t arouse the people and expect calm. I am convinced destruction will come from within.

As we continue to see the clamp down of our civil liberties via lockdowns, the tech giants quashing speech, and the impending total control of our health care, the American people may soon find themselves in an enslaved state as well.

In fact, never have so few been bent on hurting so many in America.

The massive 75+ million vote for Trump is the mass that has been aroused. They may be the only firewall remaining to protect American constitutional values. Trump led the way. We must continue. Now is not the time to go wobbly.
